The Blue Olive Bar & Bistro, Coral Bay Village, Established 1.1.2017

Here’s our latest find !
One of Kyp’s favourites, set up on a ridge, above the rock garden, is this lovely low rise cottage style British Bistro with a cool twist. The result of a dream come true for Julie, once in the public eye, and Rich, both from UK, their very own Bistro, so they can work together as a family, a place for all the family and their pets, somewhere to eat good food and enjoy good entertainment, opening on the first of the first, this year, I’d say they got off to a good start!

Family run Bistro
It’s a little off the beaten track in Coral Bay Village, but worth every moment to get there, nestled next to Askos Hotel, plenty of crimson, overlooking a good size swimming pool, in the middle of a holiday complex, it’s just a nice peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, and there’s always a jovial welcoming spirit. Inside decor is traditionally bistro so too the cuisine. Outside, sun shaded terraces and loungy areas, and the ever growing popular Prosecco Wine, chilled and on tap, hmm, just perfect !

Different
What told me this place was something different, is the inscription up on the wall … ”Sometimes it’s the people who no one imagines anything of, who do the things no one can imagine”!you sort of know you’re gonna get something creative, something of quality served with imagination in an ambience which compliments the menu and the attention to detail that I’m sure can only lead to bigger and better things!

In the kitchen
An Italian Chef, has created a generally British Menu with an Mediterranean twist, as he conjours up delicious fresh Pizzas, home cooked Gammon, Kebabs, and chunky Chips, mouth watering homemade tender Steak & Ale Pie, taste bud exploding Liver, Bacon & Onion … with more chunky Chips, or good old British Mash made of course with Cyprus Potatoes, a perfect blend 😉

Sundays aren’t Sundays
Without a traditional Sunday Roast Lunch and that’s exactly what you’ll find here.  A choice of 4 roast Meats, 4 veg, Yorkshire Puddings,Roast Potatoes, Crackling, 4 sauces, Mint, Apple, Cranberry or Horse Radish, and yummy gravy and just wait for the puddings, choice of crumbles, one of my faves, the Bread ‘n Butter Pudding OMG and too many home made desserts … accompanied by live music every Sunday, bliss !!

Modern thinking
Don’t think they’re not into the Gluten Free and Veggie thing, as the Menu offers a selection so versatile there’s something there for just about any one, with any taste … you’ll see what I mean !!!

I love the bar
It looks like a bistro, tiny but well stocked, with a selection of Wines, Beers and Spirits to compliment your meal, plus Micro Brewery, Aphrodite Rock Ales and Ciders … You really must try the home infused Grapefruit Gin … delicious !

Events
Regular events so far this year have included nights like the Mini Balls, especially the Battle of Britain, with ball gowns and all the trimmings, many local live acts including my very good friend and close up magician, Mike Mondeo, how does he do it ??? … The immensely talented Kyp Paraskeva, then the awesome Ska Man, Gareth Severn and Greg Frey doing his 60’s 70’s 80’s and 90’s gig not to mention the amazing voice of tenor Teodoro De Castillio, OMG !!! hey, you might even catch the Cyprus Brass Band down there blowing their horns …

Special offers
Regular Buffets and 3 Course Set Menus accompanying live entertainment to make it an all evening thing, oh and of course Fish & Chips on Fridays and Surf & Turf Saturdays.

To find them
If you approach from Coral Bay strip, turn down by Yummy Yummy and follow the road as it bends right past the Askos Hotel, and take the second left and under the arch and they are up on the left …
