One of my favourite Take Away eateries, just a touch above the rest, Wokiwok gives you a fusion of Asian Cuisines, all freshly cooked to order, right in front of you and to perfection in immaculately presented kitchens boasting six authentic Wok Burners from China and a head chef ‘Butti’ from Nepal who is just sooo passionate about his art …
I’ve known George for years, Cypriot born, living in London for 7 years, with a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, spanning 27 years, including the famous Psistaria Kapatsos in Limassol and Nicosia. George told me he had a desire to open an Asian Take Away ever since he had his first taste of Indian Cuisine in Napa. Joined amiably by wife Yiana from Finland, adding the female touch, they achieved their dream in 2015.
George says ”expect to find an awesome selection of spicy food coz the boss likes it !” … but by spicy he didn’t mean hot hot, he meant full of flavours of the East, some mild, some medium and many with a kick … Everything is cooked to order, using freshly cut local vegetables and the finest cuts of meat, and seafood and imported ingredients from the East … Then three top Chefs conjure up an extensive selection of Asian cuisines from, China, Thailand, Korea and Japan and of course Sushi …
The freshest of fresh, prepared by ‘Amber’ the Sushi specialist, choose California Rolls, Tempura Rolls, Salmon to die for, Avocado, Spicy Albacore Tuna Rolls, my fav the Smoked Salmon Rolls … Mix with Maki, like Crab or Tuna or the Wokiwok Kyoto a blend of Salmon, Prawns, Teriyaki sauce, Oriental sauce and Chili sauce. Top it all off with one or two Nigiri, Salmon, Albacore Tuna, and Octopus my fav !!!
I love the Kani, its a delicious Crab and Sweet Corn soup, the Spring Rolls are so crispy and Prawn Tempura yummy, but the Japanese dumplings are just irresistible and you can get Crispy Aromatic Duck with all the trimmings and pancakes as a starter, so sometimes I just get a few starters 😉
Too many to mention and too many favourites, Chicken, Pork, Beef, Seafood or Vegetarian, I like everything from Sweet & Sour Chicken to Chicken Teriyaki, a sauteed chicken breast fillet with carrots, onions, green peppers, spring onion, sesame seeds and Teriyaki sauce, it’s a tastebud explosion ! and omg wait til you try the Crispy Korean Chicken, really spectacular !!
Pork or Beef Beef
It’s hard to resist the Szechuan Pork, or the Beef Teriyaki, or the Beef in Black Bean Sauce … but the unique Crispy Beef with Oyster Sauce is just amazing !!!
Now I love my seafood so you’re in for a nice surprise, the Salmon Teriyaki amazing, The Sweet & Sour Prawns a taste bud confusion 😉 but my absolute fav is the Seafood Curry, OMG !!! like, prawns, Calamari, Mussels, carrots, onions, red and green peppers, garlic and coconut milk, or if you prefer switch it to Yellow Curry ? Hmm ?
Now I have to say I’m a sucker for a Thai Red Curry, so that’s exactly what I end up getting, but the portions are very generous so I often mix and match and share with a few friends at home …
Rice & Noodles
Naturally you’ll need an accompaniment, highly recommended, the Yaki Soba Noodles, mines with beef fillet please, The Pad Thai Noodles, a tad hot but yumm, and of course the mixed seafood Noodles.
Fasting Dishes, aka Nistisima
With traditional Cypriot roots, George and Yiana make sure they have almost twenty selections to help you find a variety of fasting takeaway to keep you happy ’til it’s time for Lamb mmm !
Take Away & Delivery
It’s a takeaway restaurant, but there’s a few tables if you can’t wait to get home, or you can call for a delivery anywhere in Paralimni, Dherynia, Kapparis, Pernera, and Sotira Centre, for a small fee and they also have soft drinks, beers and wines, oh and if you want some desserts, they aim to please so they’ll grab you something from a nearby Patisserie, and that’s what I call top service from a top guy !!!
