Ayia Thekla Market, Sotira
10 am ’til 3 pm
It’s that time of the year again, we all dread it coming but as it gets closer we all love it and so with perfect timing I’m really looking forward to the Christmas Market this festive season … The setting is at the wonderful Ayia Thekla Market on the outskirts of Ayia Napa, just past Macronissos aka on the coast of Sotira … its as good as on the beach so if you fancy it, you can catch a quick swim in between your battering …
Naturally Santa has promised to be there from 11.30 am ’til 2.30 pm so the kids can meet him in person in his grotto and pick up their prezzies for only €2 … well it is Christmas 😉 … and a few stalls will be selling Hand Made Christmas Decorations, candles and fairy lights for the tree, house and garden ….
oh and rumour has it the amazing Catt will be there’ll with her awesome Face Painting Skills to help everyone get into a little Christmas Spirit …
Talking about spirit, i’m looking forward to grabbing a glass of Hot Mulled wine, to warm the cockles, in fact if they choose my favourite recipe I might have two, or three … oh and there’ll be mince pies, and Turkey & Stuffing Rolls to help soak it up lol …
I love it when I catch up with people who do things for their passion … Carole Simpson is the awesome lady in this case … She’s putting together the plans for this Christmas Market and by the sound of it, it’s going to be bigger and better than last year …
Promising up to about 70 Stalls this year including the ever faithful Mel’s stall selling a massive selection of sweets like aniseed balls, shrimps and bananas, Toffees and liquorice, all imported from the UK and naturally they taste as good as they did when we were kids.
Cards & Bags
Carole and Steve will be there too with an awesome selection of Christmas and Greetings cards and gifts from the UK … and Mick and Sharon with their top quality Faux Leather Handbags and Purses mostly imported from Thessaloniki in Greece … and the Gorgeous Sharon with her beautiful collection of Mosaics.
Many of the traders from the Wednesday Market will be there, but with their Christmas spirit, so you’ll find a good choice of home made delicacies and specialities and fresh fruit and vegetables, maybe a bit early for the sprouts but lovely for tomorrows roast and of course Smoky Pete’s imported fish and seafood from Grimsby.
There’s everything you’d expect from a thriving market, from a variety of bric-a-brac, souvenirs, hand made pottery, household goods, Hand Made Candles, I.T services and computer stuff … There’s shoes, new and second hand clothes, accessories, lots of different home made consumable and non consumable produce.
Then Alan & Kim’s Antiques Stall is an array of Bric-a-brac mostly imported from the UK for that home from home feeling plus Roger & Tina’s stall with second hand books to swap or buy.
Then when we just can’t barter any more, to help us all wind down for the afternoon there’s going to be a choir of Carol Singers … so you might as well join in and have another glass of mulled wine 😉
Get a Stall
Carole is happy to receive enquiries from traders and stall holders of all nationalities, in fact the more the merrier. You’ll have to bring your own stalls and canopies and all pitches must be reserved by Sunday 11th November the latest with prices starting from under €15
For one Day Only
This market is an annual event for one day only, which this year falls on Saturday 24th November 2018 from 10 am ’til 3 pm and as always it will be a day of fun, shopping and enjoying a little bartering and a great chance to do most of your Christmas Shopping at really low prices. The Restaurant will also be open serving Full English Breakfast, snacks, teas, coffees and much more …
You’ll find the Market on Ayia Thekla Beach, it’s on the beach side of Nissi avenue, just past Waterworld Waterpark, and very close to the new Ayia Napa Marina, currently under construction … See map below
