The Bottle Bank Bar
One of the newest bars in Kato Paphos caught my eye, the name says it all ! I thought, I’d love to open an account there ;). So I popped in to meet the guys, it’s a family run pub, Chris and Nina, moved here from South Africa, via a 10 year stepping stone in Greece …
Chris said, ”we just came on holiday, decided to move and bought the pub …”. I’ve heard that before a few times … but these guys have just blended in like they’ve been here for years … I expect it’s got something to do with the traditional Cypriot Hospitality that oozes from the family and crew.
It sits proud on the bend, the decor is traditional dark wood everywhere, spacious with a lovely veranda out front. They’re sport mad here, so there’s 10 huge screens for all the latest live sports … with a lean to the rugby of course … but you can pretty much request what sport or game you want to watch and they’ll usually find it …
Regular Live music is on the menu and their music play list is endless, so it’s like Pandora’s Juke Box, where you choose the sounds on the screen and set the mood for the night … and if you see Stars in Your Eyes, they’ll set it to Karaoke Mode and you and your mates can sing your hearts out … and special events are always planned for bank holidays !
The bar is fully stocked with big bottles and a great selection of quality spirits, beers, ciders and they serve them different ways .. so when I asked Chris, why their cocktails are so different, he showed me the huge glasses they make them in … nuff said ! There’s Darts and Pool and lots of blackboards with SA sense of humour and when I asked if they have Happy Hour, Chris said ‘‘all you have to do is make me happy” … sounds like a plan !
The kitchen isn’t ready yet, but if you’re hungry just ask at the bar, and you might be in for a nice surprise … If you’re really lucky they might even have one of their famous souvlas on the go or they’ll just phone something in for you and serve you a delicious Lavazza Coffee to go with it !
They welcome enquiries for parties, hen and stag nights and will really help make your day!
You’ll find them on the bend at 1, Athina Court 2 and Artemidos 27, Kato Paphos …
