Misohoro Taverna, Dherynia

Misohoro Taverna, Dherynia, Established 2002

Out of Town
If you are looking to get out of town to try a traditional Cypriot Meze House, make sure you try this place, the setting is just wonderful … I’ve known Makis since 1987, when he owned Freedom Reggae Bar in Ayia Napa and we have been friends ever since . Yep, he is still crazy, but quietened down a little in his old age …

In the heart
His decision to open Misohoro in 2002 was just an immediate success calling it MisoHoro as it in the centre of the village, I always thought it meant Half a Dance ? … ha! when you leave here you’ll only just be able to walk 😉

In the kitchen
Wife Georgina conjures up just about everything you can expect from a Cypriot meze house, from tender Steaks, delicious mixed grills and a traditional Cypriot meze that changes seasonally so every time you go you might try something different … She highly recommends the Vegetarian Meze too, I wonder why? … one thing’s for sure you’ll be licking your fingers as well as your lips …

Include; my sons fav the Charcoal Grilled Octopus, or my fav, Wild Rabbit Lemonado with potatoes to die for … and the ‘Kioftedes’ still made by Makis mum with her mum’s secret recipe … of course snails of all sizes and those other little Cypriot delicacies 😉 oh and they’ll look after the kids with smaller portions, or just order meze for the adults plus one and there will be enough for the kids … and they even have baby changing facilities …

Hanging artifacts
I love the setting and décor, old antiques and hanging artifacts and barn doors and photos … and from the bar you’ll get all your fav drinks as Makis’ old mixing habits die hard and he’ll even blend you one of the best Mojitos you’ll ever taste … But here you can also buy spirits by the quarter and half bottle or why not crack a whole bottle, should get you up dancing …

Weddings & Parties
It’s a fantastic choice for your wedding reception, christening, family dinner, birthday party, last supper or even a little romance … The wonderful staff still serve with that true traditional Cypriot hospitality that made Cyprus famous … Children have a play area with swings n stuff so they can play and you can drink wine …

Extra touches
Disabled Facilities go hand in hand with that extra special touch that Makis offers all his guests … Really, go become one of the family and tell them Tony sent you … might get a free shot, Makis ?
