Acropolis Bar & Restaurant
I popped in to catch up with the charismatic George recently, as this place was almost home when I first got here, welcoming the What’s On crew always. What I like about Acropolis Bar is their down to earth attitude, and there’s always something happening in here. Boasting an extensive menu with a good variety of international cuisines, for breakfast lunch or dinner, from morning ’til hmm morning!
Situated just before the fork off to nightlife street, it looks just like a traditional Greek taverna all blue and white with old photos and memorabilia on the walls and George as traditional as they come with extensive experience, welcomes every nationality.
Its huge, so many choices, there’s bound to be something here you’ll fancy. Starting the day with a Full English or Continental Breakfast, and fluffy Omelettes, over 10 different Salads, and delicious Fresh Soups Daily …
If you just fancy a snack they’ll make you a Sandwich, a tasty home made Burger, home made Pizza, or Pasta, too many to mention, my fav has to be the Carbonara or the Spaghetti Polobrocoli.
The Cypriot Chefs cook up delights from mum’s old recipes, from delicious Dolmades, Stuffed Vine Leaves, the Cyprus Tava a casserole with Pork & Coriander, or every kids favourite the Cyprus Meatballs, a delicious Moussaka, Lamb Kleftico, cooked for hours in the speciality sealed ovens, tantalizing Stifado, a casserole of Beef cubes with Onions in Red Wine and Vinegar.
Naturally they serve a huge traditional Cypriot Meze for two, over 15 Cypriot delights, so make sure you’re hungry. From the grill, Pork Chops, Lamb Chops, Mixed Grills, Pork or Chicken Kebabs and a selection of Pork Fillet Dishes with so many sauces to choose from you can’t go wrong
Their speciality has to be the delicious tender steaks, Steak Diane, Pepper Steaks, Roquefort Steak to mention but a few ! My fav has to be the Acropolis Steak; Fillets of Beef covered in fresh Cream Sauce with Mushrooms, Shrimps, red Pepper, fresh Tomato, and Onion mmm or choose one of the Sirloin Steaks, plain grilled or with your fav sauce.
Freshly grilled Tsipoura or Salmon with Honey, Fresh Sword Fish, Fresh Octopus, Kalimari Rings, Char Grilled King Prawns, and if you can’t make your mind up you might as well go for the Fish Meze !
The Vegetarian Moussaka is just wonderful or Vegetarian Dolmades, Keftedes are deep fried Vegi Balls made with Mushrooms, Potatoes, Mint, Egg and Peppers or you must try their Jacket Potatoes with a filling of your choice.
Behind the Bar
The gorgeous Andrea will serve you absolutely anything you’ll fancy to complement your meal from an extensive selection of Wines, Beers and Spirits by the glass or bottle or let her mix you one of their Speciality Cocktails, my fav the Pave Kid, a blend of Ouzo, Creme de Menthe, Blue Curacao and Lemonade.
Its a family run restaurant for families of all sizes, with a kiddies play area to keep the little’ns amused, so if there’s loads of you a visit here is a must, if not just for their delicious home made Apple Pie or fluffy Pancakes … Yumm !
