The Rock
I remember when Rock FM opened in 2002, cool name I thought, probably a new Rock station?, Hmm, Wrong! it was named after the famous Aphrodite Rock in Paphos … Based up on the West Coast, they do play rock but the music mix is much more versatile, everything from Charts, Top 40 and Latest Releases to Retro and of course all the Classics. Its 24/7 with top presenters live on weekdays between 7 am and 11 pm, when it switches to non stop music. Oh, and you don’t have to be on the West Coast to tune in, I often listen on line and I live on the East Coast, it’s a really cool station!
Part of the Community
Rock FM quickly became a part of the local community, supporting many local charities and providing live links ‘on air’ at top events, with news on the hour providing local, national and international topical news, occasional live traffic information and daily exchange rates.
Meet the Doc
Every week there’s an interview with a Qualified Doctor discussing a different topic … You can phone in and ask them questions or send a message if you prefer to be more private.
DJ’s Everywhere
The DJ’s also attend lots of bars and pubs for promotional nights and helping at charity events … tbh they are very good at it and are now the longest established English speaking radio station in Paphos and in Polis they’re the only English speaking radio station, recently adding frequencies for the Limassol Districts, and they’re always looking for and introducing new resident DJ’s to the station …
Weekends
On Friday afternoons Janet Robinson spotlights and interviews local bands from all over the island at the Transition Show. Saturday & Sunday you’ll hear more speciality shows like Soul, Blues, Reggae, Club Anthems and Golden Oldies … and there’s regular live broadcasts from events in the area …
Parties Galore
oh and this Radio Station love to host parties so look out for events over Christmas, New Year, of course on their birthday in November, oh and Road Shows in the summer months and well any excuse they can find really lol
