Crystal clear waters
If you’ve ever fancied learning to scuba dive, you’ll be happy to know that you’re in one of the best places in the world to try it … partly because Cyprus boasts one of the longest diving seasons in the world, with all year sunshine and safe, calm, crystal clear waters, with water temperature around 27°C only dropping under 20°C in the winter months and with visibility reaching up to 40 metres … I’d say its the best place!
Passionate
That’s one of the reasons Rich Stevenson aka Stevo, decided to open a dive school here! Qualified to PADI IDC Staff Instructor, Rich is completely passionate about his business providing everything from Try Dives at Green Bay, that offers easy access and lots of marine life to see. So why not take the plunge, pun intended, and you can Discover Scuba Diving for as little as €70 … oh, btw, even Maria Armenaki aka ‘Miss Cyprus’ is diving with them!!!
The Team
As Stevo took over Tipsy Turtle Bar next door to the dive centre, Tamara and Dan both from Switzerland, are looking after you these days … They’ve got the same passion about diving with years of experience, but they want to specialise in environmental diving … so things like fish feeding etc is not a priority here … but high quality dive courses in English, German and French are, oh, and btw, Stevo is still part of the team …
Courses
Most people start with their PADI Open Water Course, taken over 4 days, which will qualify you to dive anywhere in the world, and you’ll almost definitely see the local turtles and they have courses all the way up to Assistant Instructor but if you need more, Dive Instructor Courses can be arranged for you … oh, and most courses are available with ‘E” Learning so you can learn the theory part from home …
Cave & Wreck Dives
Once you’re qualified, there are some awesome caves to dive and several wreck dives including one of the top ten wreck dives in the world, The Zenobia Ferry which is in a marine protected area and is a dramatic dive, to say the least … oh, and ask about the Mythological Ruin Dive, currently under construction and should be ready for the 2021 season! I just love this video of their Halloween Night Dive on The Nemesis Wreck this year … Btw, they also provide Tank Fills to 225 Bar and can arrange Nitrox fills if you prefer.
Personal Attention
Dan and his team’s speciality is their ability to calm students who are a little nervous about the idea of being underwater. They understand that some people worry a bit about putting on a mask and breathing underwater for the first time and Dan has this amazing knack to calm you down and talk you through it, with the added reassurance that he’ll be right next to you and even hold your hand when you take the plunge for the first time. The comments from their first time students speak for themselves !!!
Children’s Diving
Bubble Maker, is a course designed for children age 8 to 10 years old, allowing them to dive down to a maximum of 2 metres and every kid that’s tried their PADI Bubble Maker Course has loved it!
PADI Seal Team
As an alternative to Bubble Maker, children age 8 to 10 can choose to join the PADI Seal Team. Members participate in 5 Aqua Missions, so after the first try Dive down to 2 metres you complete your 5 Aqua missions before you can dive down to 4 metres. Learning things like communicating with hand signals, breathing correctly underwater, and making a shallow water entry … Children over 10 can then choose to do the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course.
Groups
The diving centre loves to receive enquiries from large or small groups even the ‘Get Married Underwater’ idea makes for a really good photo and trust me they’ll be making sure you enjoy your dive! … btw, they always try to keep the groups smaller, so they can give you better 1 to 1 attention.
Beach Clean Ups
I just want to give a big shout out to Rich, Dan and all the crew and all their local helpers that help us to keep our beaches clean on their regular beach clean-ups … Rich then goes that little bit extra and invites everyone back to the Tipsy Turtle Pub for finger bites and a drink … awesome idea, oh, and btw they only use paper straws here …
Meet the Turtles
Dan also told me that he is part of an initiative to help protect the sea turtles population in this area which has grown considerably in the past few years … and that he actively helps the Mediterranean environment by assisting in the culling of Lion Fish that have escaped from the Red Sea recently … so go interact with the turtles it’s an amazing experience!

Join the Dive Club
Dan recently started a Dive Club, where you can pay a yearly or half yearly fee, and you get up to 2 dives a week, with free tanks and weights, and equipment for hire for only €10. It’s a lovely way to get together with like minded people, and enjoy a drink after the dive, with some special events always happening and an international dive trip every year!
Servicing
Dan also provides an excellent service and repair facility for all Aqualung and Apex diving regulators and equipment to help keep you safer when you’re underwater …
