The name Karas is synonymous with quality fresh fish, and it's regarded as one of the best fish restaurants in Cyprus, so its naturally a Cypriots favourite, and purely by reputation, they come from all over Cyprus to eat here !
... so, if the kids are complaining they're bored, get ready to satisfy their thirst for fun!
Serving traditional Cypriot cuisine, or as Artemaki calls it, ''pure horthiaytiko'' or 'village-style' in English. The food is always cooked fresh, mostly over real charcoal, so it'll take at least 20 minutes to be served, but let me just say; it's worth every minute! and don't worry the pitta bread, dips and salads will wet your apatite. Whilst Arimaki's mum cooks traditional Cypriot dishes for your delight!
I met Flouris in his early days at Good Fortune Restaurant in Ayia Napa. Now in a prime position at the top of the strip in Protaras, son Andreas has joined the family business and together they make an awesome team, bringing you that traditional Cypriot hospitality that made Cyprus famous ... putting first class customer service as their number one priority !
... it's almost inevitable that this place goes from home dining to partying like only the Cypriots know how!
I've watched this pub grow since it opened in 1988. It's all dark wood, tables, comfy seats and benches. The whole place is covered in artefacts, flags, posters, blackboards and hundreds of photos added over the years. I'm sure I'm in a few, ha!, in fact, I probably took a few of them too. It's a GastroPub with a cool mix of an international clientele, and of course, the locals in the area, even our nationals who swarm down to the East Coast for a swim on a weekend, and something to eat, and all add to the ever-increasing repeat custom and inevitably, I'd have to say; it's one of the most successful pubs in Cyprus! ... Tbh, the weekends are soooo busy I prefer to go Monday til Thursday, I get more attention ;)
It's on the corner of the entrance to Bar street, and btw, it's one of the oldest bars in Napa! Hosts Andreas and Karina, are completely 'down to earth' and absolutely love their pub and have continued it's 30 year tradition by being one of the only bars that stay open all year. Joining the crew recently Kevin of Three Lions Pub fame is bringing the pub grub menu to another level. Naturally it's a favourite with locals and long stay workers and of course they look after everyone that wants to join them, tbh, it's one big happy family here, and quite unique!
Bursting at the seams with talent, lets start with one of my best friends Xenis, without doubt one of Cyprus' finest chefs, who passionately conjures up his GastroPub style cuisine, using only the freshest and finest ingredients, many picked from his personal mini farm. The rest bought from very selected local suppliers, except of course when they need to be internationally authentic.
Situated just to the right of Ayia Napa Harbour, a little more serene, relax with a drink out front in a modern chilled ambiance, or under the huge covered terrace or out back, overlooking the med ... it really is a perfect place to enjoy fresh premium seafood delights and there's a huge pristine lawn and a playground area for the kids with swings, trampolines, tunnels, slides, and things ... ... we had to go with the times and old TV programs got dropped and we started a little entertainment and the pub matured, signs and blackboards every where and pretty much the same crowd would come in, a mix of young guests and the more mature lot who still remember the show ... and their popularity grew even more when the snack menu changed into a real pub grub menu ...
