What's On Cyprus

Saturday 16th April 2016 ... I was really happy to see someone fixing up Woody's Inn in Protaras, finally I found out who it was...

So its August, it’s guaranteed to be hot, well over 40°C, in the shade, and that means it’s time to remind you to drink more water, if you’re out in the sun for long durations you’ll need at least 3 litres a day … and if you think that’s loads, my good friend Craig of Bungee Down Under fame used to drink 8 litres a day and not pee, hmm take note! So if you only get one tip from this page I hope it's this one ...

The current Covid Crises has hit us all hard, throwing us into a sci-fi film set back in March, we’re now on 'Take 82', and tbh, I think the Cyprus Government got it right … They reacted very quickly, rumour has it from a little inside tip from one of our Chinese investors … They attacked the pandemic with the only possible solution, ‘To Slow it Down’ … then using experts in Epidemiology they mathematically calculated when things would get back to normal’ish … and we’ve lifted restrictions in travel, no more SMS messages to go out, no more curfew, we’re allowed to swim in the sea and top up the tan after, and the restaurants and bars are opening and it seems people are getting together with friends, so please pop out and give these guys some support, they need it most now!!!

... This one in particular I think will be absolutely awesome!  I've been chatting to Karen about this internationally renowned group 'Money for Nothing' who are regarded as Europe's number one tribute band to the legendary Dire Straits ...

We'll finish off the month with Orthodox Easter Good Friday falling on the 22nd, Easter Sunday on 24th and Easter Monday on 25th, followed by an extra bank holiday on the Tuesday 26th aka Megali Triti or Big Tuesday because Easter is the biggest celebration on the Orthodox calendar and I'm expecting the locals to celebrate bigger and better than the last two years, so if you've never experienced Easter in Cyprus put it on your tick list ...

I also love December coz we get all those lovely sunsets, without heat haze, just stunning to say the least and on some days those invigorating walks along costal paths on stormy days, and the spray from the white horses, refreshing your smile.  Meanwhile the aura of the Mediterranean is a natural source of Iodine, really good for the immune system btw

I recently heard that my very good friends Phill and Jenny were on the move, and I had the pleasure to live next door to them last year. I hear you shout; well, where else you can ski in the Troodos Mountains in the morning, and in under an hour you can be swimming in the Med, which btw never drops below 15°C ...
