Corner Shop
In the heart of Pernera, aptly on the corner, next to Mojito Bar & Grill, is a supermarket and bottle shop, aka an off-license, that really stands out amongst the rest … I’ve known ‘Costi’ the owner for many years, but the shop has been established for almost 30 years now and he’s the typical corner shop, with a lot more … I loved the way the alleys are numbered to make things easy to find …
Extensive Displays
There’s too much to mention, but when it comes to variety the experience shines through, as ‘Costi’ knows exactly what you’ll need, might need, and hope you don’t need, so you’ll find everything you’ll expect from a good corner shop, from fresh milk, butter, cheeses, cured meats, and yogurts, to all your groceries, cereals, bread and rolls, pitta bread, Greek pastries, sauces, stocks and gravy, a huge selection of frozen foods, from burgers to English sausages, cod and prawns to calamari and salmon steaks, oh and local fish too … plus fresh fruit & vegetables every day, household goods, Cockroach traps, and mouse traps, Mosquito Repellants, oh, and gorgeous perfumes, and hand fans to keep you cool.
On the Beach
Oh and because we’re in Cyprus, Costi stocks a nice selection of beach towels and beachwear for all ages, like sandals, flip-flops, and swim shoes, and beach items, like buckets and spades and swimming aids, snorkels and masks, lots of toys & games, bats & balls, cool boxes and hats and caps … and an extensive range of suntan oils, creams and after sun lotions … oh not forgetting a cool selection of sunglasses, many with designer names.
Huge Cava
The range of nonalcoholic and alcoholic drinks on display are immeasurable, Top Name Spirits including, Smirnoff, Absolut and Grey Goose Vodka, Bells, Johnny Walker, and Grants Whisky, Hendricks and Gordon’s Gin, Bacardi Rum, Captain Morgan, Courvoisier, Metaxa Brandy, Jagermeister, and Bailey’s, but all with alternative more economical options from around the world … oh, and some speciality spirits in gorgeous presentation bottles as gifts … the Tiger Rum one of my faves, and of course a lovely selection of Ouzo and Zyvannia, Cyprus’ original moonshine, now brewed and bottled by Masharas and Kykos Monasteries and a few more villages up in the Troodos Mountains … warning this stuff kicks like a mountain mule lol

Starting with the oldest manufactured wines in the world, Cyprus’ Koumandaria, better than a really nice port, and an excellent selection of white, red and rose wines from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia and more … Naturally Keo & Carlsberg to Heineken, Becks, Stella Artois, Guinness, John Smiths, Several Ciders including; Somersby, Kopparberg, Brothers, Cuba Libre, Rekorderlig Passion Fruit Ciders, just about every fizzy drink, fresh fruit juices, and mixers you can think of … oh and Party Ice …
