It’s the season for exhibitions and festivals and summer closing parties and winter opening parties and if you think Cyprus is dead, you should look again … sure it’s quieter than the summer, and many bars and clubs closed early this year, doubling up their Halloween Party with their closing party, any excuse to get rid of all the booze in stock, lol ... and, if I hear you say there's nothing to do, I'll put you on the next flight home ...

I've always thought that when buying meat, it's best to buy from a local butcher.  I'm not really sure why, but it just seems to make sense, and to be honest, this butcher personifies my theory.  And the fact that they are usually busy shows that many locals, restaurant owners, and top hotels agree … in fact, most of my culinary friends tell me he's the best butcher around, and until I find someone as good, I have to agree!

Tssssss! Now normally, when it gets this hot we just go for a swim in the sea, but in August even that doesn't work coz the sea is more like a tepid bath.  So, I’ll let you into a little secret, my absolute favourite thing to do in August is to stand under one of our waterfalls in the Troodos mountains, mmm, even in August it’s ice cold!

So, summer has officially arrived, and if you've been waiting for perfect beach weather, this is it.  Across Cyprus, June typically brings long sunny days, and on that note, the summer solstice falls on Sunday 21st at 11.24 am ... then there's the blue skies, and we had so much rain this winter it's almost definitely not gonna rain.  Coastal temperatures usually range between 30°C and 35°C, in the shade, that's 90° F to 100° F in English, while inland areas such as Nicosia will climb even higher.  So if you're gonna Get a Tan, be careful and please follow my tips.

Not just for hotels, this place caters for everyone who loves to cook ... The stock is extensive, to say the least, and delivery is nationwide, which is why they're favoured by many top hotels, restaurants, bars, cafeterias, apartments and private and domestic homes.  I think it's the only place you can go to find just what you need, on every visit!

So, I asked George to tell me about his choice of beef ... and quite amazingly he told me; "We were the first to bring the burger scene to Larnaca.  We mated Black Angus steers with our cows at several local farms, which gave birth to more Angus beef and we're now in our 16th generation and naturally, we get our beef fresh from our associated local farms ... ah ha! that's why my burger tasted so good!
