Cava Robustos & Harvest Status Wine Bar, Paralimni, Established 2005

An awesome find …
Nestled, conveniently next to each other on the site of the old post office in Paralimni, to the left, is ‘Harvest Status’, a really chilled Cafe Wine Bar taking hospitality to a new level, where you can enjoy the finer things in life, and a little bit more 😉 and to the right, through linked, Cava Robustos is a really cool find, selling the finest freshly roasted speciality coffees, imported teas, fine wines, spirits, cigars, and unique gifts …

Harvest Status
This impeccable Cafe & Wine Bar serves just about the best coffee you’ll taste anywhere in Cyprus.  Complementing your selection of over 300 different quality wines with signature Fruit, Meat or Cheese Platters, introducing you to imported cheeses from all over the world, maybe with a little marmalade, hmm, trust me, you won’t find this selection anywhere else, oh, and freshly baked bread and breadsticks and btw, you really must try the new Charguterie, French-based Mixed Meat Platters plus of course everyone’s favourite, the freshly made Sushi and some spontaneous seasonal finger foods encompassing the trend towards the healthy living options.

Live Music
To accompany this higher level of hospitality, a little live music is perfect, so George is introducing you to music, a little different, from Jazz and Blues to Greek Soft Rock, sometimes solo Saxophonists, duets, and even the occasional 4 piece band, every weekend 9 pm ’til late … Check out their Videos here

Speciality Coffee
As Cyprus has finally caught up with the rest of the world, I’ve had the pleasure to get to know George Christofi better, btw, he was one of the first to bring freshly roasted specialty coffee to Cyprus back in 2005.  Robustos is now without doubt one of the leading independent importers in Cyprus, distributing a selection of the world’s finest freshly roasted coffees with their own unique blended fresh coffee bean aromas.  More recently and to compliment, their already modern approach to hospitality, George has gained a new addiction, freshly made sandwiches based on organic ingredients, omg just wait ’til you taste these …

Immersed
Studying Computer Sciences in New Jersey, George even spent a while as a Commercial Pilot in the States, but on his return to Cyprus 15 years later, he was concerned by how many cafes had opened, that didn’t serve real fresh coffee, so he decided to take coffee in Cyprus into a new era and opened his first shop in 2005 and then completely immersed himself into the world of coffee, fine wines and cigars, qualifying in Greece, with his Coffee Diploma by The SCA, Speciality Coffee Association in 2007, btw every country has a chapter, and in September 2017 George was elected National Membership Coordinator.

Very Important
Coffee even has its competitions, and it was Tasso Delichristos a world champion, who inspired George to bring real freshly roasted coffees to Cyprus.  George explained that he chooses which coffee beans to blend, then he orders them and the Speciality Roasting company in Greece roasts his order, saying it’s very important that the coffee is not older than six months, assuring me that if it is, it’s not fresh anymore and he won’t serve it!  So, they roast it and George grinds it for you to order, or you can buy the whole freshly roasted beans if you have your own coffee grinder.

The Coffee Roaster
George recently launched his own brand of speciality coffee, ‘The Coffee Roaster’ taking Cypriot taste into consideration, selecting fresh coffee beans in association with his roasting company, blending the right mix and strengths, then using the latest technologies, they freshly roast the coffee beans to produce a much bigger variety of over 20 blends of speciality coffee.

Speciality
George also explained, “Premium coffee allows some defects, but speciality coffee has to be perfect” and continued, “commercial coffees are roasted in big quantities, but with speciality coffees, they roast much smaller orders, that’s why they’re called Speciality” … One of my faves is the ‘Single Origin Microlots’ all of them rated at over 80 points on the Q Grade, hmm, if you pop in George will happily explain more.

Fine Imports
The Cava is exemplary, a selection of the finest Single Malt Whisky, Rum, Vodkas, Gins, and International Wines, offering advice to help you choose what might just become your fav … oh, and they also stock Trappiste Beers, made in Belgium by the monks and a cool selection of Cuban and Latin American Cigars and some really lovely baskets and gifts for granny and some really cool ‘boys toys’.

Seminars & Barista
George regularly attends seminars and exhibitions and now offers free seminars introducing you to coffee, improving your coffee skills and if you want, he will help train you to be a Coffee Barista, a career with a definite future!

Private Wine Tasting
George has recently introduced private wine tasting, so you can sit and chat about the wines and enjoy the attention to detail from this expert of wines, as George studied at the ‘Wines & Spirits Educational Trust’, these events are lots of fun and offer a little enlightenment at the same time and a must if you’re into wine! Oh and look out for special seasonal events especially Christmas when you’ll be in for some festive surprises …
