Passion for Nature
I recently popped in to catch up with Xenakis, I first met him when he opened The Camel Park in 1998, but we never really had a chance to get together, he’s a busy chap. Xenakis is one of those guys who has a passion for his work, saying ”I opened the park because I love, animals and nature”, as we chatted he reminisced about how excited he was when he was growing up, seeing Cyprus Camels in his village and he wanted to give all kids the chance to get up close, feed them and even ride the Camels …
Furry Friends
Xenakis informed me that the Cyprus Camel was everywhere many years ago, and for some unknown reason, they just fizzled out. So, for the past 22 years, Xenakis and his family have created this unique and totally wonderful haven for now 70 camels and a few other furry, fluffy, and feathery friends like; Ostriches, Goats, Deer, Ponies, Lemurs, Alpaca, Llamas, Turtles, Fish, lots of Birds oh, and the resident Peacock
Different

New This Year
The pair of Alpacas, a species of South American camelid, were recently introduced to the Park. They’re similar to, and occasionally confused with the Llama, but you’ll notice the Alpacas are smaller than Llamas and dead cute.
Babies
What I really like about The Camel Park is its diversity, as there’s always something new to see every time you go. With such a lot of animals, there’s often a few babies around including iccle Camels, ranging from as little as 2 weeks old, to see them is just delightful!

So much to do
As you walk in you’ll realise the park has been designed for all the family, with several kids’ play areas, things like the Swings, Bumper Cars, Train Rides, Noah’s Ark, a mini-museum of a traditional Cyprus house of old. In the grounds, you’ll find a gorgeous Swimming Pool and Kiddies Pool surrounded by lush green lawns and mature trees giving you that oasis feeling and a lovely opportunity to chill and enjoy lunch or dinner.
Menus
In their Cafe & Restaurant, there’s a great selection of spectacular Cypriot dishes, Salads, Pizzas, Wraps, Burgers, Grills, Sea Food, or just an Ice Cream or Teas, Coffees, and delicious homemade Desserts and Cakes … oh and, an excellent Children’s Menu!
Unforgettable
The entrance fee has always been very reasonable and it allows you to use all the facilities including the pool in the summer, with the option to pay a little extra to buy food bags to feed the Camels which is so much fun, the expressions on their little faces are priceless! Maybe do something you’ve never done before and buy a ticket for the Camel Safari Ride, an experience you’ll never forget!
Parties
Xenakis and the awesome crew also welcome birthday parties and special events, again something a little different for your kids, and you can choose your menu, with full catering facilities available.
Selfies
All in all, this is a fantastic day out with the kids that can cost you as little as the entrance fee … Oh, and don’t forget your camera, a few of the Camels love a selfie 😉
