Back in Love
I was so pleased to be invited to The Amore Hotel Appartments in Kapparis in the suburbs of Protaras to meet the owners Tony and Suzanna. With coffee in hand, Tony and Suzanne explained, “We are refugees, having lost everything in 1974 we moved to the UK.”
Foundations
Tony continued; “We visited regularly for holidays and originally bought the plot of land in 1990 and we built the Hotel in ’91 … we thought it would encourage our children to move back to Cyprus, but, we ran it ourselves for years before letting it out to a travel company and returned to the UK to be closer to our children and grandchildren”.
A Famous Past
For some reason Tony looked familiar so I delved a little deeper … Coming out of London, Tony aka Tony Costa was a professional wrestler in the Big Daddy and Mick McManus days 1969 to ’90 … I used to watch him on TV, just amazing! … Like many other Greeks, their main business was in the Rag Trade, but they always wanted to move back to their motherland and finally they decided to take back control of the hotel and semi-retire doing what they do best, providing traditional Cypriot hospitality.
The Resort
Tony explained; “It’s a really cozy, family-friendly resort, in a wonderful part of Cyprus, with 66 Apartments, designed with both style and comfort in mind” … They’re tastefully decorated, boasting a modern aesthetic look while exuding a cozy ambiance. There are 47 x 1 Bedroom, 3 x 2 Bedrooms, and 16 Studios, all with a well-equipped kitchenette and self-catering facilities, a spacious balcony or terrace, some with a pool view, and a few with a sea view, which is just 500 metres away.
Landscaped Gardens
One of the highlights is its stunning outdoor areas, boasting mature landscaped gardens where guests can relax to the max, in one of the hammocks and unwind soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine.
Dining
Tony continued, “We also have a Pool Bar serving all your favourite drinks, and a Restaurant for our guests, providing everything from Bed & Breakfast to Full Board Stays … which are totally flexible” … you can also select from their A’la carte menu.
Themed Buffets
The restaurant and bar are open from 8 am serving a Full English and Continental Breakfast, Buffet Style … Lunch and dinner are a selection of international cuisines, hot and cold dishes served buffet style and they are planning to have Theme Nights, the most popular being Greek Night with live music and dancers and the famous Glass Dance that’s not to be missed.
Secret Recipies
Suzanna said she’ll be helping the chefs cook up things like Macaronia tou Fourno, aka Macaroni Pastiche, Koupebia aka Stuffed Vine leaves, and many other Cypriot delights. oh and, Tony said “We have some really special Zivania from the villages, to accompany your meal” … but be warned. ‘this stuff will knock your socks off!’
Facilities
I asked them to tell me more, Suzanna said; “We have a big Swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, Hammocks between trees, a Pool Bar, a Tennis Court, with equipment to hire, and a Gym with a Sauna. The 8 ground-floor apartments are accessible by wheelchairs and we have baby cots if required and there’s a Play Room and Swings for the kids”.
Close to the Sea
Suzanna continued; “we are perfectly situated in tranquility, just 500 metres away is Kapparis Bay, aka Firemans Beach, with crystal clear, generally very calm waters, often in the summer it’s like a mill pond and a delight if you like to swim in the sea”. Protaras and all its stunning beaches are just a ten-minute bus ride away.
All Year
The Kapparis area boasts a 12-month season with many restaurants of several cuisines, bars, cafes, bottle shops and supermarkets open all year, walks along this coastline are unforgettable, especially at sunrise! … Check out their Facebook Reviews … and their Trip Advisor reviews
