Special Needs
My little sister Mellanie and her other half Rob like to visit Cyprus every year, sometimes twice a year, as many of our visitors do … Rob has Multiple Sclerosis and to assist his mobility uses one of those posh Robocop-style wheelchairs which even extends up to allow him to stand up.
Train Track
Their choice of accommodation is the wonderful Cavo Maris Beach Hotel in Protaras. Partly for its excellent location, right on the beach, where you’ll also find one of several mobility tracks along our coastline, to help the lifeguards assist those with special needs to get into the sea.
Amazing Touch
On one of my afternoon visit’s Rob wanted to get into the pool, and to my astonishment, the hotel had that covered too. The lifeguards brought out this amazing winch-type harness, which has a secure borehole specifically poolside. In a few minutes, the winch was set in its place, and they lifted Rob into the harness, which swivels over the water and lowers Rob onto a lilo so he can safely float, keeping his head above water.
First Class
I have to give a big shout-out to The Cavo Maris Beach Hotel and their excellent crew for their attention to detail to help people with special needs … btw, they’ve got several bars and eateries on their grounds all attainable by mobility scooters … Later that evening, George serenaded us at our table … check out my live video on the night
