Indian Summer
It’s October, my favourite month, well almost, especially if September over flows a bit, and that’s what normally happens, coz much a its Autumn we can still swim in the sea, but it means the long hot summer has come to an end, or has it? Unusually we’ve already had a little rain in September and August was a tad cooler than usual, so according to the fishermen, it’s going to be another Indian Summer and that means this hot spell will last ‘til the end of November, hmm I believe them, so you’d better book those flights and come and get a tan!

Closing Parties
There’s festivals everywhere and closing parties and opening parties all over the place and we’ll see a few more pubs, bars, cafes and clubs staying open, with many swinging towards the local market.  So if you get invited to any end of season or opening parties make sure you go … it’ll be rude not to 😉

Autumn
It’s one of my favourite seasons, two bank holidays on the 1st and 28th and you know, we’ve all been working our little bits off since March … The air is clearer, fresher but it’s still hot by day.  As things slow down, we all get the chance to catch up with friends, who’ve been more like passing ships in the night for the last seven months, probably light a few barbies, you know any excuse 😉

Time to Relax
The long tourist season is finally winding down, the long stayers are moving in, predominantly from UK and Scandinavia, with Paphos leading the way with their all year facilities, and Ayia Napa catching on.  Most of the resident workers had post season blues as early as August, back to school? hmm, but there’s an ever increasing number of them that won’t leave this year as Cyprus slowly gears up to year round tourism.

Complete Madness
October opens with the tail end of the Complete Madness Mini Tour, by Kendall Events, I caught this band at the Paralimni Amphitheatre gig, and all I can say is; what an awesome night! and I can’t wait for them to come back!  You can catch them at Tala Amphitheatre on Tuesday 2nd

Classic Rocks Festival 2018
Protaras again hosts the Cyprus Rocks Festival, after last year’s search to find a new home for the classic rock festival, which started in Rhodes many years ago.  It looks like they found their new home and rumour has it, this year twice as many classic rock fans will be travelling to Protaras from Thursday 4th ‘til Tuesday 9th October, so that means the far south east coast will be rocking every night for a week!

Ayia Napa Medieval Festival
For the 13th year running the Ayia Napa Medieval Festival getting bigger and more spectacular every year, don’t miss the opening of this festival by the square in Ayia Napa on Saturday 13th October and throughout the week ‘til Saturday 20th … More

It’s touring season
Why not jump in the car or give one of our Safari tours a call and get Out and About . The mountains are just about to come into their element and the sunrise in Kapparis or sunsets in Paphos are quite stunning ! … I recently heard one of the watersports lads say, we can’t wait to get to the mountains, so we can’t see the sea. I said, how can you get fed up of this sea ? he replied, “just for one day”! … on that note, even up in the mountains, you can still see the sea, at some points on three sides of the island …

Boats & Safari
There’s still a few Boat Trips and mini cruises sailing too, so get down to your local harbour or check our web site or App, just search Boat Trips or Safari recommendations.

I love that smell
Remember we haven’t really had any rain since May, accept for a couple of stormy days in September.  I love that smell when those first heavy storms come, everyone runs out into the roads shouting halleluiah, but they’ll drives us mad, coz when it rains, boy does it come down, the term ‘pissing down cats and dogs’ must have Greek roots somewhere, lol … and as for the roads they become rivers and where’s the drainage ffs? … Ask any Cypriot and they’ll probably say, well, it doesn’t rain very much over here, so who needs drainage? … Don’t worry, Rain? here one day, gone the next!

Dining out
Anyway, as I was saying, Indian summer, beach ’til New Year, sounds good … we hear there’s frost in Europe, sounds better and as we live for the table, dining outside in November, I can’t wait, hey why else do we live here ?

Alternative Ideas
A few more things I’d like to catch; It’s the 5th ‘Cyprus Tango Meeting’ from Friday 26th to Monday 29th October 2018 at the wonderful five star Grecian Park Hotel with stunning views over my favourite Konnos Bay.  Alternatively The Yoga Retreat at Cyprus Villages, a complex of apartments and villas situated in the picturesque village of Tochni.  Oh, and The brilliant Karen Carpenter tribute is back on Sunday 28th October to Saturday 3rd November for another Kendall Events mini tour, and the robotics at ‘The Explore the Ice Age Exhibition’ in the Mall Nicosia is getting some great reviews open ‘til 7th November.

Cultural
After our accession to Europe, back in 2004, we predicted there will be an increase in cultural events in Cyprus, and wow, Paphos recently boasted The Cultural Capital of Europe, I wander what else we’ll see next … I just love our ever changing Cyprus, and hey, bring on more culture ! … For a link to many cultural events in Cyprus check out the Cyprus Tourism Info site at www.visitcyprus.com

Halloween
Don’t forget its Halloween Night on Wednesday 31st October with many venues holding special events for all ages, some on the weekend before, so keep your eyes on us, and they are getting bigger every year as the Cypriots have realised it’s a great excuse to dress up or dress down it seems haha! … so start sewing or get to the fancy dress hire shops and make it an event to remember!  Many pubs and restaurants have got their acts together along with places like CyHerbia a must for the kids Castle Club in Napa are mixing Halloween with their closing party on the Saturday 27th this year, and btw, it’s a party not to miss!

Finally
The new App is on Play Store so I’d just like to give a big shout out to all our sponsors that help make this network possible … We are the leading Tour Guide for News & Entertainment on Facebook and we love to receive your comments, ideas, events, and stories, so please keep them coming … and if you get anything from this page, please don’t forget to mention you saw it in What’s On !  Oh btw, If you’re in business, and you’ve got something to shout about, if you tell us, we’ll tell them …

And really finally
If I can give you one tip … Make sure you do at least one thing you’ve never done before!
Na da bou’men !
