Fish House Restaurant
We were invited by my very good friends Pete and Panicos to taste a couple of their new dishes on the new menu at the almost finished, newly renovated Fish House Restaurant on the Harbour Ayia Napa … Just in case you’re wondering it was Fire House Grill, which back in the old days was Markos Fish Restaurant … Renamed Fish House after popular demand by their regular clients and I must say, I have to agree …
New Bar
The place looked awesome, out front a brand new bar, and chill out zone, not quite finished but looking splendid, with ambient lighting and comfortable seating, a chair swing and two cool hammocks and to the right, a new children’s play area. Just inside, two fresh fish fridges, displaying the days catch, including of course live lobster … the inside seating area looked pristine and out back, our choice tonight to dine al fresco, with the harbour and the Mediterranean, like a millpond, as our backdrop …
Old Friends
Greeted by a very old friend and the new manager ‘Xenios’ who I’ve known since his Full Moon Beach Party days in ’96, back working with Panicos again, there were many moments of nostalgia, whilst we ordered our drinks … we decided to dine out back, so we could watch the sunset, over a perfectly calm sea … and our Gin Fizzes, perfect, were served in no time.
New Tastes
Pete had persuaded us to try two new starters and share; the first ‘Tuna Tartar’, raw marinated fresh Tuna fillet on a bed of fresh mango and avocado with a pinch of sweet chilli, it looked so good we didn’t want to spoil it, but omg it was different to say the least and absolutely delicious …
A must try
The second choice the Gourmet Fish Cake, a mixture of cod, and perch fillet, mashed potato, chives, spring onion and spices breaded in panco and fried … I have to say it’s the best fish cake I’ve ever eaten, and I’m going back just for that … btw, its a credit to the chef Yiannis who obviously has a little culinary Japanese sushi in him because these two new dishes were his complements to the new menu …
What else?
For main course Louise and I decided to share a fresh fish and seafood platter, sort of a mini fish meze, we chose mussels in garlic sauce, king prawns tempura, filleted sea bass and baby calamari, served with mixed vegetables and chips or rice, we had both 😉 oh btw, they still do an awesome steak and grills … in fact the new menu is massive!
Afters
Completely full up, I just couldn’t resist the Apple Pie for dessert, much as next time it has to be the home made Tiramisu … I just have to give a big shout out to the staff who were first class, attentive and tbh, We’re definitely going back and I really can’t recommend this place enough !!!
