Luxurious
Standing tall and proud on the left of Ayia Napa Harbour is the biggest, most stunning, luxurious yacht on the quay, and we’d been invited by my very good friend Mike for a sunset cruise. We recently finally made it on board and I must say, my first impressions were, wow! This boat is definitely the most luxurious yacht on the harbour!
Catch Up
So before we went I grabbed the chance to meet up with Leo, who recently joined the crew and amazingly speaks 6 languages. Speaking in English, Leo told me that Ocean Queen was Launched almost a year ago, by my very good friend Sotiris, with his son, Captain Thanasis at the helm, who btw was the youngest captain in Cyprus, and even more impressive, he’s qualified to drive those huge tankers, so for him, this is cruise is easy. lol
On Par
What I really like about this boat is the interior design and finish, that really is, just on another level. Yet they’ve kept their prices in line with the other boat trips so for much the same price, aboard Ocean Queen you get just that little extra bit of luxury!
Daytrips
The daytime trip is a 4-hour cruise heading east from Ayia Napa harbour, Captain Thanasis glides you along the rugged terrain of Cyprus, skipping past a few of Europe’s top beaches and bays and getting you so close to the sea caves you can see inside them … Continuing East to see the eerie sight of the Ghost City of Famagusta and 5-mile beach …
Swim Stop
Then they head back west, to the Blue Lagoon for their first swim stop. On the way a buffet style lunch is served, a selection of greek dips, bread, 3 salads, roast chicken, roast potatoes rice and veg, and for afters a selection of fresh seasonal fruits, and I hear, it’s delicious! … Swiming in The Blue Lagoon is just, hmm, priceless!
Chilled Ambiance
On the way back, their second swim stop is Konnos Bay, which btw is my favourite bay in Cyprus. You can dive into crystal clear, generally very calm waters. It’s a family boat with a capacity of 250 people and it’s a family-orientated cruise, and so things like diving off the top deck is not allowed, and Leo said “the venue sort of dictates the behaviour, so much as big groups of girls and boys are welcome, the ambience is very chilled!
On the Decks
On that note, they’ve had some famous top DJ’s on the decks, excuse the pun. On our trip, my very good friend and one of Napa’s pioneering DJs, DJ Mike, was on the decks so we were chilling out, cruising the med, to some very cool chilled-out house, R’n’B and a few classics, and I had to go up and say ‘cooool tune’ more than a few times!
Sunset Cruise
We chose the Sunset Cruise for our first trip on this stunning boat. It’s pretty much the same as the daytime cruise, missing out the Famagusta bit. So a gentle cruise to Protaras, then on the way back, seeing is believing, as they glide towards Napa for sunset and the only swim stop at Blue Lagoon as dusk falls and the colour of the sky changes to shades of pinky blue and red the best time to just float around in the med, mmm!
Pristine
Just wait ’til you see this vessel when it’s lit up at night! The contrast of gorgeous led lighting and pristine shiny ceilings, the smell of leather and highly polished wood and decking will make you feel like a kings or queens and it’s just a must for the photo album to make your friends back home, jealous!
4 Decks
Down below there’s a kitchen, and girls you’re gonna love the tidy loos … on the first deck, the entrance to the very sleek main bar is fully airconditioned with lots of spacious comfy booths serving all your favourite drinks and exotic cocktails, mixed perfectly by their resident mixologist. It’s also the buffet area, the cockpit, the DJ box, and a little corner lighting the charcoal so you can enjoy those unmentionable exotic flavours with your friends.
VIP Jacuzzi
Then even more impressive, up on the top deck, a little more private, for a maximum of 12 of your friends, the very luxurious VIP area, with comfy sunbeds, really comfy seating and a very cool jacuzzi with a very cool view … Mmm!
Private Charters
With a capacity of 250, they keep their max to 50% for all their cruises, so that the boat feels even more luxurious. Not only is this boat a little bit of luxury for you and your friends but you’ll get looked after with a glass of real bubbles on arrival, with table service drinks accompanied by meat, cheese and fresh seasonal fruit platters served with traditional Cypriot hospitality!
Behind the Bar
You’ll find all your favourite tipples, but you must try their signature cocktails blended perfectly by a world champion mixologist using only premium spirits. My favourites are the Tiki Taka and of course the Ocean Queen, oh and, the prices are well cool at around €8 to €10
Big Screens
Oh, and just in case you thought you’re gonna miss the big match while on the trip, don’t worry they’ve got 2 big-screen TV’s and of course free wifi!
