Landmark
Apart from the fact that this exquisite hotel is literally on the beach, on the west coast, in Limassol, it prides itself on its sustainability as a landmark on the picturesque Limassol coast, for almost 5 decades … I’ve worked with them since 1993, then providing the hotel’s information channel, and was delighted when I was invited to meet Genia from the management team for a chat … I have to say I was super impressed!
Wanax Beach Bar
One of the main reasons I wanted to catch up with Genia was to find out more about ‘Wanax’, their newly opened Beach Bar, come Tapas Beach Bar that I’m hearing is the in-place to be on the west coast, fast becoming one of the popular beach bars. Opening every day as a beach bar, with an international A’la carte Menu ’til 6 pm. Then on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it’s a fabulous beach bar by day serving signature cocktails, and by night, from 7 pm ’til late it transforms into Wanax Mediterranean Tapas Bar, with a different concept, the themed specialty is Tapas, accompanied by a little live Salsa music and don’t miss their weekly Sunday Latin Beach Parties
Sustainability
Poseidon of course was The God of the Sea and Genia was telling me that their family want to protect the underwater kingdom, but also safeguard life on the land. Their Sustainability Pledge is not only environmental but social & financial as well; Offering guests a guilt-free experience by going “green(er)” without compromising on quality of service and providing the same top-level of hospitality … The Hotels Green Team will be pressing harder to increase these environmental and cultural activities, so stay tuned for More …
Environment
I love the way as part of their sustainability this company takes it just that little bit further, like one day they did a 60 Minutes Lights Off to save electricity … or one of their latest innovation Operation; Soap2.0, recycling Soap Bars to make Scented Wardrobe Hangers … Quite Brilliant and their Let’s Swap Fashion Edition was quite innovative, to say the least … All in all I give them a big shout out for helping to save the planet and taking hoteliers to another level … tbh, I can’t really recommend this hotel enough …
5 Decades
Over a delicious freshly squeezed orange juice, I asked Genia to take me back, she said, “The hotel was established in 1975 but didn’t open ’til 1978, as one of Limassol’s first hotels and it still is one of Limassol’s finest” … she continued; “It was built by my grandfather “Dilor’ from Lebanon, as a 5 Star Hotel, but he decided to run it as a 4 Star hotel, so you’ll find 140 very spacious 5 Star Styled Rooms with appropriate facilities, at 4 Star rates.
Back to Family
I asked when did it all change? Genia continued; “The hotel was once operated by travel companies, but in 2014 our family took the management of the hotel back, and now our family runs the hotel with a pure passion to provide a new concept, and only the best experiences! … Our General Manager, Mrs Lydia Yazbeck, daughter of the late founder Dilor Yazbeck, is carrying on in the footsteps of her father and has been leading the Poseidonia back to its Glory days for the last 8 years.
Variety of Rooms
There’s a stylish combination of Rooms, well-appointed Executive Suites, Double Rooms, and Studio Suits, each designed with comfort and elegance in mind, some with a sea view and others inland view … with their continuous plan to improve, 12 “sample” rooms have been fully renovated in the past months with beautifully designed open face wardrobes & walk-in showers. These rooms are currently being reviewed by hotel guests. Repeating guests are especially impressed by the change.
Get Wed in the Med
To my surprise, the highlight of Poseidonia was well hidden and yet there to be discovered. So before leaving, Genia took me to their little hidden gem, the Poseidonia Gardens! These iconic gardens are gaining a lot of popularity among the locals and have become one of the best Open-Air locations for Wedding Ceremonies. The private Poseidonia gardens, with a beautiful view of the beach, are ideal for outdoor ceremonies in an intimate setting. Whether you are looking for a traditionally romantic celebration, an unusual hip gathering, or an over-the-top extravagant party … this open space garden could be the exact location you are looking for.
Modern Touch
I just love the evidence of times of old with ‘mosaics’ everywhere … they also recently refurbished their Trident Bar, which gives you a homey feeling as soon as you step into Poseidonia. It’s the perfect balance of a modern touch to a historic Hotel. Genia also mentioned, “I’m now working very closely with Maria our executive housekeeper who joined us as her first job and has worked at the hotel since she was 18 … our target is to find ways to improve your stay”!
Amenities
The tastefully decorated accommodations feature modern amenities such as full air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea & coffee facilities, a safe box, hairdryer, and single-use plastic amenities have been replaced with refillable pumps containing the finest quality of locally produced shampoo, shower gel, hair conditioner & body cream and naturally, there’s complimentary Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable stay for every guest.
Welcome
Genia was telling me; “We want to launch a new concept, a new Poseidonia, to try to distinguish ourselves on how to keep the same very nice experience for your stay whilst assuring you have different experiences every time, things like our welcome gift to our clients at the moment is hand-painted bottles filled with herbs inside and we have some really nice ideas for the future”.
