City Centre
It was my pleasure to catch up with the eminent George Ioannou, General Manager at The Margadina Lounge Hotel in Ayia Napa, one of my selected accommodations for more reasons than one. It’s just a short 10-minute walk to the Square in the centre of Napa and its vibrant nightlife and only a 5-minute stroll to Pantachou beach.
Inevitable
It was built to be a 5-star accommodation, so a tad more spacious, but it’s run as a 4-star, a tranquil escape from the excitement of Ayia Napa. And, it’s owned by the hands-on, charismatic, Pantelis of Liquid Cafe and Sage Fusion Restaurants fame, those in the know will understand it’s inevitable this hotel can only be first class.
Comfortable
Over a delicious coffee, George told me “The hotel offers a variety of accommodation options to suit every traveller’s needs. You can choose a Standard or Superior Room or Family Suite, sleeping up to 4 people. Each room is elegantly decorated with the latest design, and equipped with modern amenities, ensuring your comfort during your stay.

The reason I’ve selected this accommodation is what truly sets Margadina Lounge Hotel apart from the rest … ‘its exceptional service’. Most of the crew have been there 15 to 20 years and they go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and they make the effort to get to know you by name. Location, Location, Location
One of the most appealing aspects of Margadina Lounge Hotel is its prime location, within gorgeous gardens. Situated just a 5 minute walk away from the beach, you’ll have easy access to the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. This beach is famous for its golden sands and shallow waters, making it ideal for swimming and water sports enthusiasts and is adjacent to Ayia Napa Harbour where you can find several boat cruises fishing boats, and fresh seafood restaurants.
Dining Delights
The Margadina Lounge Hotel boasts a delectable on-site restaurant, ‘The Amaltheia’ serving both Cypriot and international cuisine. It’s mostly indoors, with an alfresco section where you can savour the flavours of Cyprus with dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients. Dining is served buffet style, with different themes every night, including, Asian, Italian, and Mexican, offering an international selection. There’s a separate Kids Corner, and also Gluten Free and Allergy selections for their guests with dietary preferences. I just love Chef’s Night, inspired by head chef Marios Stavri, which is full of surprises, and naturally, you can also order from the ala carte menu.
Behind the Bar
The hotel’s Allayla Chillout Bar is also a great place to unwind with a refreshing drink after a day of exploring, surrounded by lush green gardens. Serving all your favourite tipples and exotic cocktails, hot and cold coffees, milkshakes, and smoothies for the kids, plus a fine selection of wines and spirits, and of course bubbles just in case you’re celebrating!
Relaxation & Recreation
If relaxation is on your agenda, you’ll find the hotel’s outdoor pool area a delightful retreat with a really cool Pool Bar. The lush garden surroundings create a serene atmosphere where you can soak up the Mediterranean sun in peace. The tennis court is also available for guests with equipment hire available. There’s also a spa and wellness centre where you can indulge in a range of treatments to rejuvenate your body and mind, and there’s a Kids Club where they’ll be safe while you relax and enjoy being pampered.
Entertainment
The hotel provides excellent entertainment in the form of a live DJ spinning his favourite tunes or a band playing live music every night by the pool bar. Wednesdays is Cyprus night with Greek music and dancing, including the famous Glass Tower balancing act and it’s been known for this guy to balance up to 15 glasses on his head, just amazing!
Health & Fitness
The hotel provides everything you’ll need to keep fit, healthy, and beautiful. From the indoor pool to the Mandala Health and Beauty Spa with a sauna, steam room, and selective treatments. An extensive state-of-the-art gym ensures that you can train on holiday without breaking your good habits! Open from early morning until the evening, the gym features a large range of modern equipment for full-body workouts, as well as a massage chair to soothe the muscles afterwards.
