It’s November, my favourite month … the long hard summer season is almost over, much as it’s still 30°C at the end of October, and we predicted an Indian Summer so it might keep going ’til the end of November … and coz we all finally get a chance to strike up a few bbq’s with friends we haven’t seen for the past seven months, we were just too busy !
Paradise
It’s been hectic season to say the least, as apparently Cyprus celebrated the best season ever, as more and more nationalities discovered paradise … and coz November is normally stormy season . ah well, 30 to 35 days rain between now and May, I can handle that !!!
Closing or Opening ?
It’s also the season for festivals and exhibitions and summer closing parties and winter opening parties and anyone that says Cyprus is dead should look again … sure it’s quieter than the summer, and many places are closed, especially those built for warmer nights … some have already started spending their hard earned cash, renovating for next season, but there’s events and things to do everywhere …
No.1 in Europe
I’m absolutely certain Cyprus is looking at ways to enhance our winter season, because we still have the best weather in Europe and in December we can swim in the sea in the morning and ski in Troodos Mountains in the afternoon … Heaven, well almost, it’s high enough 😉 … oh, relaunching What’s On Cyprus has rejuvenated my passion for this amazing island and I’m loving it …
Witches and Bonfires
So, November kicks off with everyone recovering from Halloween parties all over Cyprus … getting more popular every year btw … and starts with Wine Month, and Bonfire Night, I just love fireworks and toffee apples, hot dogs or fish ‘n chips ! … Bonfire night falls on a Saturday 5th, so you’ll find Firework parties all over the country …
OMG ! its Wine Month !!!
so up ’til 30th of November, The Cyprus Wineries Association organises seminars, excursions and wine tasting and of course it’ll give you an excuse to say it’s not too early for your first glass 😉 … and just in case you’re not in the know, Cyprus boasts some of the worlds finest wines, so you’re all in for a treat … More …
Beaujolais Nouveau
The new fresh wine arrives in Cyprus on the 17th November … I wonder which eaterie will be first to pour it in their glasses ? … My money is on Uptown Square in Limassol …
Cultural Cyprus
The 3rd International Scientific Conference of the Sylvia Ioannou Foundation is on From Wednesday 2nd ’til Friday 4th November at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia . Art 4 All Exhibition from 4th to 9th at the wonderful Rodi Event venue in Limassol . The traditional Zivania Festival over two weekends, 6th and 13th in Alona and Pelendri villages . The wonderful Storytelling Festival on the 10th to 14th at Technopolis in Paphos …
Versatility
Now I’ve always said Cyprus is versatility to the extreme so if you fancy a little bird spotting get in touch with Cyprus Birdlife before the 13th … and on the 19th its the 3rd Jazz and World Music Showcase over two days at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol . and on the 27th the Cyprus International 4 Day Challenge 2016 in Paphos . and slightly more relaxed the Mintis Hills Open Golf Tournament at their golf resort in Paphos on the 26th …
It’s Bazaar
It’s the start of winter, so many of our clubs swing towards the Cypriot market and the eating out scene goes right through to Christmas … and many local pubs, bars and community centres all over Cyprus, put on Bingo Nights . Quiz Nights . Live Music
and events . Car boot sales . Christmas Bazaar’s and well you name it .. remember that this rock isn’t very big so you can jump in the car and go touring … for a look at more cultural events go to the Cyprus Tourist Organisations’s site here …
The Hub
Winter wouldn’t be the same without popping down to Larnaca, which comes into it’s element and lives up to its reputation as the hub of Cyprus, venues like Savino Live put on more gigs than they do in the summer and of course a visit to Larnaca’s Salt Lakes to catch awesome photo opportunities with the Flamingos, and there’s no rush, they’ll be here ’til spring …
Reunions
Naturally if you’re not in Cyprus you’ll want to get to one of the many pub and club reunions happening all over Europe especially in the UK, Israel and Russia … and I just wanna to say well done you lot, its good to see someone promoting Cyprus off shore …
