Woww!
It’s November, my favourite month! … well, the long hard summer season is almost over, much as it was still 26C in the shade at the end of October, and I can feel an Indian summer looming, so we’ll be sunbathing ‘til December … and mostly coz we all finally get a chance to strike up a few bbq’s with friends we haven’t seen for the past seven months, lol, we were just too busy ! oh, relaunching What’s On Cyprus has rejuvenated my passion for this amazing rock, and I’m loving it! Get a’load of this …
Closing or Opening ?
It’s the season for festivals and exhibitions and summer closing parties and winter opening parties and anyone that says Cyprus is dead should look again … sure it’s quieter than the summer, and many places closed a tad early, doubling up their Halloween Party with their closing party, any excuse to get rid of all the booze in stock, lol
Elements
On that note I want to wish a big good luck to two brothers and long-time friends of mine, Pani and Andreas for the launch of the newest bar on the strip in Napa, cool name, Elements Bar & Lounge, opens on Friday 3rd November. Once the Place Bar, now totally refurbished, more room to dance and it looks like this’ll be the place to be for the winter on Napa’s Square! Pani tells me to go and find the 5th Element, ‘Spirit’ … ha ! I’m going 😉
Are you following
Naturally the places built for summer were built for warmer nights … some have already started spending their hard earned cash, renovating for next season, but there’s events and things to do everywhere, you just have to follow What’s On Cyprus, so hit up our Facebook page, daily …
Winter Destination
Cyprus boasts Europe’s best climate, I might argue ‘the world’ but hey I’m a tad bias?, hmm I’d say 330 days sunshine a year is arguably sufficient lol … I’ve been here 25 years and watched it change sooo much, and I’m absolutely certain Cyprus is looking at ways to enhance our winter season, not just because we have the best weather in Europe and btw, in December we can ski in Troodos Mountains in the morning and swim in the Med in the afternoon … oh, and Troodos is wonderful at this time of the year! Heaven, well almost, it’s high enough 😉
OMG ! Its Wine Month!!!
So for the whole of November, the CTO and The Cyprus Wineries Association organise seminars, excursions and wine tasting and of course it’ll give you an excuse to say it’s not too early for your first glass 😉 … and just in case you’re not in the know, Cyprus boasts some of the world’s finest wines, so you’re all in for a treat … oh and this year they’ve created 7 new Routes and signposted them for you to follow, oh, we’ve got one really good one, ‘Driving you to Drink’ written by my good friend Stanna many years ago, that received many compliments over the years …
Beaujolais Nouveau
The new fresh wine arrives in Cyprus on the 18th November, I wonder which eaterie will be first to pour it in their glasses … my money is on Chesters Bar in Limassol …
It’s Bazaar
It’s the start of winter, so many of our clubs swing towards the Cypriot market and the eating out scene goes right through to Christmas, and many local pubs, bars and community centres all over Cyprus, put on Bingo Nights, Quiz Nights, Live Music and events. Plus Car Boot Sales, Christmas Bazaar’s and well you name it! Remember that this rock isn’t very big so you can jump in the car and go touring …
Versatility
Now I’ve always said Cyprus is versatility to the extreme, so if you fancy a little bird spotting get in touch with Cyprus Birdlife before the 12th when they’ve got a Family Birdwatching Day at Athalassa Park in Nicosia.
Jazz it up a bit
The 4th Jazz and World Music Showcase over two days at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol on 24th & 25th November and for the Sports Crazy, on the 23rd to 26th its The Cyprus International 4 Day Challenge 2017 … and for the golfers, Mintis Hills Open Golf Tournament at Mintis Hills Golf Tournament in Paphos on the 11th …
Cultural Cyprus
Paphos has hosted the European Capital of Culture this year and there’s still a few events left on the programme. Oh and one of my favs; The traditional Zivania Festival, on Sunday 5th November in the beautiful picturesque village of Alona. Hope they’ve got fireworks too … for a look at more cultural events go to the Cyprus Tourist Organisation’s site at, www.visitcyprus.com
Health & Fitness
The Mind Body & Spirit Festival is on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th at Filoxenia Conference Center in Nicosia this year, celebrating 15 years and is promising to be the best ever …
The Hub
Winter wouldn’t be the same without popping down to Larnaca, which comes into its element and lives up to its reputation as the hub of Cyprus, venues like Savino Live put on more gigs than they do in the summer and of course a visit to Larnaca’s Salt Lakes to catch awesome photo opportunities with the Flamingos, and there’s no rush, they’ll be here ’til spring!
Reunions
Naturally if you’re not in Cyprus you’ll want to get to one of the many pub and club reunions happening all over Europe especially in the UK, Israel and Russia … and I just wanna to say well done you lot, it’s good to see someone promoting Cyprus off shore, hmm
Paradise
Phew, It’s been hectic season to say the least, as more and as more nationalities discovered paradise and apparently Cyprus celebrated the best season ever, oh and remember, November is normally stormy season, ah well, 30 to 35 days rain between now and May, I can handle that !
