It’s Carnival Season
It’s March, my favourite time of the year, it’s supposed to be spring, but whatever you do don’t blink coz by the end of the month it’ll be summer before you know it! oh, and its Carnival Season starting on Friday 28th February and culminating with Green Monday on the 2nd March and there’s Rio Style Carnival parades in all the big cities on Sunday 1st,  Limassol leading the way with the biggest, but in Ammochostos it’s getting better every year, Larnaca absolutely brilliant, the Capital Nicosia spectacular and I’m hearing this year’s carnival in Paphos is gonna be awesome, oh and of course Spring is in the air, the blossoms are out, aromas everywhere and everything is sooooo green … I just love it !

Green Cyprus
We’ve had so much rain, it’s mad?, but we need the rain, and it won’t be long now before we won’t see rain again ‘til October, bring it on I say!!! … So, it’s green everywhere, all the citrus trees are blossoming, flowers galore, the mixtures of aromas are just delectable, even better there’s still fresh wild asparagus in season, and strawberries … oh, the days are getting longer and warmer, I can almost spread my butter in the morning, and ho hum, here comes Summer!!!

Clean Monday
What a way to start the month, it’s Carnival or Carnivore season, which of course actually signifies the start of Lent, so ‘no meat’ for 49 days, starting on Green, or actually, Clean Monday aka Kathari Theftera on Monday on 2nd March … no chance here, I like my meat too much!  To celebrate, the Cypriots all go out to the fields to light their BBQ’s with family and friends, on the menu; fresh fish, sea food, lots of fresh salads, fresh and dried fruit, nuts and in fact, anything you can think of, that’s not meat.  The theme is fancy dress, they all get face painted, and fly kites and stuff, and btw don’t worry if you’ve not been invited, just go for a walk in any field on Monday 2nd and you’ll probably get asked to join in, you know Cypriot hospitality n’all …

Any Shopaholics out there ?
You’ll should still catch a few of the February Sales, crazy, coz most of them started in January this year?, so you’d better hurry and get out and find some bargains.  It’s a good time to buy that last winter warmer, still needed at night in March.  Leading the way in Fashion are Brouska or BrouskaBlue and London Clothing Company, with shops all over Cyprus and Y2K in Ayia Napa

Winter Warmers
I love this time of the year, invigorating walks along stormy coastlines, and on those chilly winter nights, most bars, cafes and restaurants have homely, warming, open wood fires, or those tall gas heaters.  Many have wicked DJ’s, mixing to mostly locals and a few tourists and long stayers … others put on live music every weekend, like O’Neill’s Irish Bar in Paphos and Rock Tepee and The Rialto Theatre in Limassol, the original Savino Live in Larnaca, oh btw don’t miss their Carnival Party on Sunday 2nd it’s always the best, oh and leading the way on the east coast Koursaros Rock Bar in Protaras, who all have regular gigs throughout the winter …

Versatile
It’s spring, but there’s so much to do if you look around, tbh, Cyprus is so versatile, you’ll probably still be able to ski and snowboard up in the Troodos Mountains in the morning and swim in the med in the afternoon, and the air is really clear, so you’ll still be able to go Star Shaped get a fab tan!  It’s a great time to go touring and there’s plenty to see.  The Troodos mountains are in their element at this time of the year and currently covered in snow!

Changes
I have to say I can’t remember a winter of so many changes, it’s exciting, driving around, places being knocked down and rebuilt, more rooms, extra floors, new fascia, new lights and sound systems, new bars and a few changing hands, maybe even one or two new beach bars and clubs … things are looking good for Cyprus with a targeted 5 million visitors this year!

Starting early
With all these festivals and carnivals happening, and Easter coming in April, there’s an obvious sign that places will be opening early this season to welcome the ever increasing early season visitors promised by many tour operators, of course adding to the locals who are still in ‘off season’ party mode, gotta feeling this is gonna be a great month !!!

Getting crazy!
Looks like the evident increase of the British, Scandi, French, Italian, Lebanese, Israeli, German, Russian and the rest of European markets will continue with an upward trend and I hear commercial flights into Cyprus are increasing and getting more economical.  I think the momentum should just keep going and it’s gonna be one of the best years ever!

Clubbing News
As always, we’re hearing some huge names being booked for this season and if the rumours I’m getting are true, Ayia Napa might challenge for the Club Capital of Europe again this season … Black ‘N’ White as usual opening first, holding their soft opening on Friday 28th February, Carwash Disco still the best night out in Napa is opening in April and then Castle Club, probably the best club in Cyprus, the awesome Club Ice, the only after party Club Aqua will provide and then there’s Ammos in Larnaca, Guaba Beach Bar in Limassol, Zoo Club in Nicosia, Vibes Club in Paphos, all smashing it these days

Excited
I’m really excited because we are close to re-launching the new App, it’s a free download … our launch on iOS is really close with a new crew from UberDigit in Nicosia joining the Network and btw you’re gonna absolutely love it …

Best Beaches in Europe
We’re now officially boasting the best beaches in Europe, hahaha, we were saying it years ago, as one Advisor never included us at all ??? … now somehow we have 25 top beaches in Europe, a couple up there with the best in the world, but guys you really can’t beat our seas, especially up on the South-East coast …

Cultural
The repercussions of Paphos’ stint as The Capital of Culture for Europe in 2017, looks like it’s awoken the world of culture in Cyprus.  It’s lovely to see the trend continuing … btw, you can enjoy it in over 330 days sunshine a year because we also have the best climate in the world and we’re one of the safest places to live in the world, that’s why we all live here, and well, we’ve got good reason to love it, oh, and btw they’ve been partying here since the Gods invented party some 12,600 years ago!  For more culture follow this link
