The Railway Inn
Opposite St. George Hotel and halfway up Grivas Diginis Street, is one of my favourite pubs!  Amy from Leicester and Chris from North London have been there over 6 years now, added some really cool ideas and the locals, ex pats and a few tourists who don’t mind straying off the beaten track are loving it!

Authentic
This is as traditional an English pub as you’ll find in Cyprus.  It’s on a corner for starters, with wooden decking and comfy seating outside on the shaded beer terrace, unless the sun’s setting and its windy … inside its cosy, with lots of dark wooden beams and a gorgeous open fire in the winter, to warm your brandy on.

Bar
Amy and the crew are out front serving your drinks, over a gorgeous, busy, fully stocked bar, boasting, Marston’s Ale, Oyster Stout, John Smiths, Keo, Carlsberg, Leon and Speckled Hen on Draught, in fact they were the first pub in Cyprus to put Speckled Hen on draught . plus lots of bottled and tinned beers, ciders and all your fav tipples . plus a good selection of wines that Amy serves from 11 am 😉

Menu
Is traditional English pub food, with self-made master chef ‘Chris’ in the kitchen, must be the Cypriot in him oh and I must just say that Chris spends a little bit more to buy the best products available.  There’s such a nice variety, including home made Steak & Kidney and Chicken & Mushroom Pies served with proper chips. You really must try the homemade Chilli con Carne, fluffy Omelettes, Grills and loads more and they always have special offers on at lunch time … Check out their full Menu

Fish & Chips
Freshly Frozen North Atlantic Cod, cooked in a proper fish range, home cut chips, with yummy mushy peas for only €6.50 and it don’t have to be Friday coz they serve them all week … oh and, one of their special offers; on Tuesday and Saturday its only €10 per couple

Burgers
Chris gets their beef burgers made by a local butcher to one of his secret recipes paying a little extra for the best cuts of Black Angus beef from America or Argentina so that they’re as good as home made, then they’re grilled to perfection . Brilliant !

Sundays
Well they wouldn’t be Sundays without a traditional Sunday Roast . It’s their speciality! with a choice of roast chicken, pork or beef served with roast potatoes, mash, yorkies and veg, topped with lovely hot gravy . choose either 1 course for €11.00, 2 courses for €14,50 or 3 courses for €17.50 or spoil yourself and try the roasted lamb for an extra €3.50 …

Afters
OMG! This place has an excellent reputation so you’d better leave some room for dessert . my faves are the Home made Apple Crumble, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding, but the Lemon Meringue Pie is to die for so to the Chocolate Brownies and the Spotted Dick just so mooorish you’ll be back the next day … and if none of these takes your fancy don’t worry because he does specials every day!

Food & Music
You must check out their entertainment program with live Soul, Motown and Reggae Nights and regular visits from the brilliant Rachel Parr, Kim & Paul, Davey Woodford and loads more . Every Wednesday check out their Food & Music specials, where you can enjoy your entertainment with 1 Course at only €10 or 2 Courses for only €15 including entrance … oh, and I’ll let you into a little secret, Chris is a well tuned musician, so if you can get him out of the kitchen tell him Tony said play us a tune !

Special
I once asked Chris and Amy why everything is so special and they said, it because we do the things we’re good at … makes sense ! … Check out their Facebook Reviews here
