Deep in the heart
If you’re anywhere near Oroklini, this is an excellent choice, if you’re not, it’s definitely worth the drive, whether you fancy breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can sit inside in traditional surroundings, or out front in the beer garden, or out back by the gorgeous pool, or maybe enjoy a fun-filled night with live entertainment, or just pop in for a quick pint and sit next to the huge tropical fish tank while enjoying a little Sushi!
Early Days
I met Miltos when he opened back in 2006, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies, from New Jersey, USA, where Miltos told me “I was over there for almost 5 years, and I nearly opened in New Jersey, but decided it was too cold” … he explained, “I was cooking breakfasts, roast lunches, and grills, at a place called Perkins Restaurant, and thought ‘if they can do it, we can’. And, when we found this little resort, we thought it was just perfect” … I asked; ‘why did you call it Lithos? and Miltos responded “In Cyprus, Lithos means ‘Stone, this place is all stone and dark wood” … Quite apt, I thought!
Reputation
Over the past 2 decades, Lithos Bar & Grill has become a very popular restaurant, located in the village of Oroklini, just a few kilometres outside of Larnaca. The restaurant is known for its delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent service.
Cook for the Stars
I have to give a big shout-out to the head chef Ian, from one of my old manors in Muswell Hill, N.W London, who’s been with Miltos for over 10 years. Much as this guy has also cooked for the stars in The Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, as far back as the 80’s and let me just say, ‘you’re in for a real treat’!
Menu
Starting the day at 8 am serving a really good Full English Breakfast, but Miltos told me “These days the Veggie Breakfast and Continental Breakfast are getting more and more popular and the Smoked Salmon on a Bagel is fast becoming everyone’s favourite”
Starters
Too many to choose from, some of my favourites include Buffalo Wings, or if you’re really hungry the Lithos Sampler; 8 BBQ Wings, 4 Mozzarella Sticks, and 4 Spring Rolls … very popular is the Chef’s Salad but The Chicken Caesar Salad is the hot seller … Sometimes I just pop in for one of their Wraps or a Club Sandwich or spice it up a bit with a Beef or Chicken Quasadilla.
Signature Dishes
Just wait ’til you try their signature dish, The BBQ Ribs, and J.D. BBQ Ribs, marinated in their homemade secret recipe BBQ Sauce, for a minimum of 24 hours, he wouldn’t even tell me … so I can’t tell you unless you buy me a drink . Shhh! … I just loved the sweet potatoes drizzled in cinnamon, Mmm!
In a Bun
On my last visit, I fancied a burger, they’re homemade using the finest Black Angus from Argentina, but which one? The Lithos Burger or the JD Burger, hmm these days I’m more a JD Chicken Fillet Burger man
Top Sellers
A few more of the standout dishes at Lithos Bar & Grill is the Carbonara, the Lamb Chops, and the Grilled Halloumi Cheese! And, the Pork Chops and JD Marinated Pork Chops have fast become top sellers … Mmm!
Pizza Time
Famed for their wood-fired or stone-fired Pizza Oven, cooking their pizza to absolute perfection you’ll think you’re in Rome. The Authentic Italian is the best seller but the Spinach & Garlic Shrimp is a tastebud explosion and the JD Pizza is quite unique.
Seafood
Head Chef Ian loves to cook fresh seafood, his Teriyaki Salmon is mind-blowing, his Garlic Mussels just mesmerizing and his Grilled Shrimp finger licking good! … alternatively go Asian with a Misso Soup, followed by Crispy Duck in Bao Buns, with a few Spring Rolls … The kids just adore their Chicken Tender Strips drizzled in sweet and sour sauce.
Sushi Time
Their latest Asian Corner is Saiko Sushi Bar, creating the freshest of fresh sushi specialities that you can enjoy by the pool.
After’s
Well this is a good old British Style pub so naturally you’ll expect some delicious desserts … my faves are The Lava Cake, The Carrot Cake, but the Creme Brulee is just so hard to resist … wonderful
Behind the Bar
Serving all your favourite beers, with 10 on draught and more in bottles, best seller the Corona. Naturally Keo and Carlsberg and Leon and they sell Non-alcoholic Carlsberg for the drivers or the teenagers, but you’ll also find Grimbergen from Belgium, 1664 Lager, Magners, Dark Fruit, and Draught Guinness from the Green Isle chilled to perfection.
In the Mix
These guys are world famous for their cocktails; Naturally, you’ll find all the classics, one or two with a twist, and their best sellers are their Frozen Margaritas, Strawberry, Mango or classic! Top sellers are of course the traditional Brandy Sour, they’re almost indigenous to Cyprus, and just don’t taste the same anywhere else.
Backdrops
There’s nothing quite like sitting in the village centre enjoying an afternoon G&T as you watch the world go by. The Espresso Martini’s sooo Moorish and the Spritzers a taste bud refresher but one of my faves is the Bourbon Old Fashioned a blend of Buffalo trace, and sugar syrup.
Live Sports
With 8 huge screen TV’s scattered around the bar, it’s a great choice to catch the Live Footie, Golf, and Tennis, or you name it, they’ll probably find it … it’s been known for them to have three live games simultaneously and the F1, and Golf all at the same time!
Events
Lithos Bar welcomes families and groups or private parties, with awesome catering facilities … You’ll find all your fav tipples and absolutely delicious pub grub, and live sports, regular entertainment, Live Acts every Friday and Saturday, with a never-ending list of the best in Cyprus on their stage, so get ready for a great night out! I recently caught Strings Attached and Lithos Rock Band here, both excellent nights
Curry Nights
Look out for Curry Nights, traditional delicious Sunday Lunch Carveries, Bingo with Cash Prizes, Quiz nights and much much more! btw they also have a Takeaway menu, any excuse to pop down for a beer while you wait 😉 or ask if they’ll deliver, coz I think they do?
Antonis G Hotel
The accommodation boasts 35 Rooms, Studio, 1 Bed, and Family Rooms … Plus 7 Small Studios overlooking the swimming pool, available for Bed & Breakfast, Half Board, and Full Board but no all-inclusive.
