Haris Bar & Tavern, Paphos, Established 1982

Haris Bar Tavern …
One of my favourite finds over the years, Haris Bar & Tavern in the heart of Pegia was established in 1982 by Haris of course.  His dream was to provide the local area with delicious homemade Cypriot and international cuisine in a comfortable and intimate setting … his son ‘Savvas’ is now following in his dad’s footsteps!

Family Size Pool
Haris Bar looks the part; as you arrive, there’s off-road parking, a cool low modern building, and even cooler signage.  It looks clean and pristine, it’s comfortable with spacious inside and outside seating, on the covered beer gardens style patios, and out back, a lawn surrounded by sun terraces with a full-size family swimming pool in the middle for their clients’ kids to play in free … oh and, serving the best British Breakfast in the mornings and a really good Mediterranean menu by night! … btw, Savvas is hands-on in the kitchen preparing!

Breakfast & Brunch
By day Haris’ is a friendly place, always a warm welcome, and the swimming pool is a favourite with local mums and their kids.  It gets busy from breakfast through brunch, with arguably the best breakfasts in town.  Choose a good old English breakfast, and add some Black Pudding to spruce it up, there must be a bit of northern in him lol … or might as well go across the border with a true Scottish breakfast … or maybe even over the pond and go American style with Pancakes and Maple Syrup, on the side, Mmm!!!

Lunch Time
The menu is well cool, 15 choices all under a tenner, from Ham, Egg ‘n Chips to Chicken Balti ‘n Chips, or Cod & Chips to Beef & Ale Pie with Mash, or Chips ha !… mmm !

Entertainment
Now, by night this place gets lively, with regular Entertainment and live music,  every Monday and Saturday night, with even more on bank holidays and other nights too.  Watch out for regular Karaoke Nights on their Facebook page.

Live Sports
There’s 2 big screens for all the live BT Sports & Sky Sports, a cool Pool Room with two tidy 8 Ball Pool tables and a menu to die for, which is why it’s so popular with the locals, regular visitors and tourists passing through … much of the success goes down to the chefs, awesome crew and of course the traditional Cypriot hospitality of owner Savvas!

Evening Events
Contact Savvas if you would like dinner for 10 or more people, they will cook up a storm!

Homemade
Just a few desserts, but all homemade and who needs anything else; Lava Cake served with Ice cream and Banana Savajon or Pana Cotta or Creme Brulee or homemade Ice Cream, and naturally they serve seasonal fruits and a variety of temptations, that change daily, like nature and running water!

Behind the Bar
There’s everyone’s favourite tipple of course, not to mention ice cool draught Guinness, a selection of Ciders, John Smiths, plus a cool selection of international Wines and Bubbles and Naughty Cocktails too … Oh and, check out their reviews on Trip Advisor

Kart King
When I sat down with Savva, the conversation naturally veered towards his other passion, Go-karts.  His face lit up as he described his venture, LKE Engines, which is as much about adrenaline as it is about precision engineering.  He grinned as he said; “You know, it’s not just about importing the Praga Go-karts, which by the way are top-notch, it’s about crafting an experience”.  He continued; “We distribute them, lease them out, and I get to show people the ropes of racing … there’s nothing quite like it.”

Passion
Savva’s expertise doesn’t end at the business side of things.  His tales of training and racing across Europe, where he has claimed victories on numerous circuits, are not just stories, they’re chapters of a life lived at full throttle.  With LKE Engines, Savva isn’t just providing a product; he’s sharing his love for the sport and the thrill of the race.  His laid-back demeanour belied the fierce competitor within, a man who’s truly found the sweet spot between his livelihood and his passion.

Traditional
Meanwhile, like all Cypriots, they have a passion for providing traditional Cypriot hospitality at its best, combined with their love for the table and Mediterranean lust for life, you’re really gonna love this place!
