The Black Pearl, Ayia Napa

The Black Pearl
I was invited on the magnificent Black Pearl by Aliki and Lisa for a day’s cruise with the Pirates of the Mediterranean … It’s one of my fav boat trips, full of fun and frolics … oh, and it’s not just for kids it’s for grown ups too 😉

Dark ‘n’ Mysterious
You can’t miss it . as it sits, huge and dark and mysterious on the harbour … I got there early for a change and the captain and his crew were doing all the final checks … I was welcomed as always, with a smile, so, that made me happy and I made my way to the bar …

The Story
The top deck was filling up and the sea looked a bit choppy … but it’s a big ship, with four decks … so off we sailed along the rugged coastline of Ayia Napa, heading for the world famous Blue Lagoon … On the way Pirate Anne Bones told us the story . introduced us to the crew … Captain Jack Sparrow, looked the part, swaggering like he had rum on his muffins this morning 😉

The Blue Lagoon
before you know it, we’d dropped anchor in the tranquil Blue Lagoon … Time for a swim stop . and some more selfies . No need to walk the plank here coz the sea looks so inviting everyone was just jumping off the top deck … Down stairs the crew were handing out floating devices and snorkelling kits for the kids and some mums n dads lol …

Mermaids Bay
We set off for a closer look at Lovers Bridge, at Mermaids Bay, time for some selfies and then tiny Ayia Anagiri church on the far right of Konnos Bay . getting up for a close look at the sacred caves and more selfies …

Initiation
It was time to initiate the new kiddie crew so they make their own flag, get dressed up, face painted and swear the pirates oath . brilliant ! oh, and Zorba the Greek was even better !!

The Ghost City
Then off to see The Ghost City of Famagusta … I’m not quite sure where I was when we stopped there . but I didn’t see it ? 😉 … aha, yeah, lunch, which was delicious, freshly cooked and then served by the crew …

More Selfies
It was a nice slow sail back via Kapparis for another swim stop … and more selfies and heading back to Ayia Napa harbour the crew kept us entertained, as the mums and dads got face painted, dressed up and with the help of a few shots, not the explosive type, they all shouted Ooooo Arrrrrrrrrrgh !!!! . Throw in a little innuendo and who said this trip was for the kids ???

The Best
I have to say this is without doubt one of the best boat trips on the Mediterranean . it’s one fairy tale, maybe a true story, on a boat that actually looks the part, with a crew who actually live the part ! … and it’s a must for all kids and grown ups !

Yo Ho Ho ‘n a bottle of Keo !
