Eagles
During September and October Achna Dam is a birdwatcher’s paradise. In particular you can spot an unusually large number of Fish Eagles, who use the wetland as a stop over during their migration trip from North Europe where they breed, on route towards Africa where they hibernate. It’s also very popular for game fishing and has become one of the most popular reservoirs in the Ammochostos district.
Course Fishing
Many fish species are caught here, including Mirror and Common Carp, Goldfish, Roach, Tilapia, Sunfish and Large Mouth Bass that can all be found in the dam.
