It’s June, my favourite month!
Mainly because it really must be summer, coz the days are getting hotter and longer, sunrise is about 5.30 am with temperatures well into the 30’s, the sea is getting warmer coz I’ve noticed the locals are finally getting in, and its not getting dark ’til almost 8.30 pm oh, and the quilts off and we’re sleeping under a sheet … Bliss!
Mythological Party Playground
It’s Wedding season, and we’re still the number one place to get wed in Europe, why ? coz it’s not going to rain ’til at least September, so everyone will be wearing sunglasses in your group photos and of course because Cyprus is the Mythological Party Playground of the Mediterranean … Ho hum !
Versatility to the Extreme
The 100 day Club war will kick off any day now, with all our clubs open and some massive DJ’s coming to spin their tunes. Pretty much everything is up and running except for a few stragglers, so you’ll have a varied choice of bars, eateries and clubs, after parties, pool parties, boat trips, jeep adventures, day trips, adventure sports, shop ’til you drop trips or if you’re more the lay back and relax type, sun loungers all over the place, mmmm!

Passionate
You know, I’ve been here over 25 years collecting information and passing it on. Most of my recommendations are people that I’ve worked with and known for many years. They are tried and trusted before I recommend them! I look for places that get it right, leaders in their field, or they’re passionate about their business or art, be it an tattooist, chef, restaurant owner, or a bar that provides drinks’ offers, all the hospitality industry, or our hair and beauty salons or fitness studios, and even the local butchers and naturally I welcome all comments and personal recommendations!

Starting by wishing a big good luck to Martyna and the crew at the grand opening of the new Gateway to India Restaurant on Thursday 1st June … I’m going !
Festival of the Flood
Highlight of the month kicks off on Sunday 4th, it’s Kataklysmos, aka The Festival of the Flood, with special events in all coastal towns, the biggest up in Limassol and Paphos with Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Protaras catching up really quick these days. The parties will start on Friday 2nd, so if you want a good water fight, they are just about everywhere … lets go get wet !
Starsky’s Re-opens
In Napa, just in time, the world famous Starsky’s opens up on 1st June, all totally renovated, again, and looking awesome. The Castle Club opens all 5 Arenas showing why it’s one of the top clubs in the world, and Black ‘n’ White still our first urban choice, on Saturday 3rd June, the ‘I’m so Ayia Napa’ party with special guests from UK and USA … tbh, Ayia Napa and Protaras still host more than half our visitors, mainly because Napa is still one of Europe’s clubbing capitals …
Limassol Licked
Guaba Beach Club will continue to smash it up in Limassol our Capital on the coast … But, I’m really looking forward to The Sunset Tribes Festival 2017 on Governor’s Beach, Limassol Saturday 3rd June from 4 pm ’til 7 am. It’s an Electronic music festival with 25 DJ’s, 2 Stages, chill out marquee, 25 kw sound system, light shows, projections, dancers and fire shows for only € 10 in advance or € 15 on the door!
Larnaca ‘n’ Lime
Mackenzie Beach in Larnaca is leading the way these days, just check out their bars and cafes come clubs, right on the beach, or Club Deep in town and Touch Club up in Paphos as usual got the right touch, whilst it was cool to hear Rainbow Disco has re opened.
Rocking Gardens
For the rockers amongst us you must check out Savino Live, Larnaca or Heaven Rock Garden in Napa. On that note, if you’re into herbs and fairies, or cream teas and mazes go to the award winning CyHerbia Botanical Gardens in Avgorou especially for Cyherbia’s Lavender Festival from 10th ’til 25th June
Underwater
If you’re into Diving check out our Diving Centres and go dive the Zenobia Wreck and explore one of the top 5 wreck dives in the world and enjoy the longest diving season in the world ! if you don’t wanna get wet, check out one of our Glass Bottom Boats …
Escape Rooms
Quick idea if you wanna get out of the sun, I love the new Escape Rooms opening up all over Cyprus, great idea to pass away an hour or two …
Shop ’til You Drop
There’s shopping in abundance and some classy choices for an alternative souvenir. My fav idea has to be Jewellery or a tattoo. It’s a permanent reminder of your stay on this wonderful rock, we call ‘Paradise’, oh, make sure you’re sober when you get a tatt, and that you choose a tattooist that won’t give you ink if you’re not 😉 … oh, and you must check out Seven Stories Lace and Modern Art Thursday 23rd June 2016 to Fri Jun 23rd 2017.
Cinema
The 12th Cyprus International Film Festival “Golden Aphrodite” is from 14th ’til 24th June in Pafos at the Attikon Cinema Theatre & Amphitheatre of Neapolis University 5 pm ’til 11:45 pm
Food Festival
Lefkosia Street Food Festival is dedicated to food including concerts, stand up comedy, cooking shows etc.. from Friday 9th ’til Sunday 11th June.
World Music Day
is on Wednesday 21st June with music and concerts all around Lefkosia, aka Nicosia.
Sport & Fun in the Mountains
Up in the mountains the Sport and Fun Festival should be awesome, starting on 3rd ’til 4th in Platres Village and 10th ’til 11th in Troodos Square.

One last big shout goes out to the Flyboarding Cyprus team who have helped set up several training sites to teach you how to fly like Iron Man and dive like a Dolphin … I’ve done it and all I can say is, just do it !

Happy Bunny
I just have to say, that re-launching What’s On Cyprus has just been awesome. I’m loving getting my finger back on the pulse. It’s been my dream, to incorporate a few of my passions into one, my love of Cyprus, my extreme passion for video and photography, and my infatuation of creative writing … tbh, I’m loving life at the mo. I suppose it’s partly down to my recently acquired philosophy, whilst I was in Oz, and as the great Jack Nicholson once said “the less I give a fk … the happier I am”!

So all that’s left to say is, if it’s your first time here, why did you leave it so long? … If you’ve been here before, welcome back!, and we all know you’ll probably keep coming back, until eventually, you’ll end up moving here … either way, you’re all very welcome …
