Everything you need to know and more ...

December
It’s December, my favourite month … mainly because it’s Christmas and of course I’ve been a really good boy and that means Father Christmas will bring me lots of prezzies … but mostly coz in Cyprus we can Ski in the Troodos Mountains in the morning and swim in the Mediterranean Sea in the afternoon, don’t you just love it!  OMG !!! 2017 went really quick, or is it just me?  Come to think of it, I’m not quite sure how we made it through Wine Month, Hic !

Parties everywhere
Oh and if you thought it was quiet in December let’s not forget, it’s time for work’s parties, Christmas parties, New Year parties and Fancy Dress parties and lots of Christmas fayres, festivals, live gigs and naturally we’ll all be getting together with family and friends, to eat too much, drink too much, and with a bit of luck enjoy a little sex on the beach ? … calm down, it’s just a cock tale 😉

3 Passions
You know, I have a passion for Cyprus, photography and creative writing, put them all together and viola, What’s On Cyprus … I love my job, still doing exactly what I came here to do in 1993.  These days of course it’s all on-line, on 8 major social media apps, so, we can help you find out what’s on, where it’s on, when it’s on, what to do with the kids and where to go shopping and of course what to buy me for Christmas …

The Site
The new What’s On Web site is looking well cool with over 1,400 Pages of info, boasting over 50,000 photos and videos, which btw is almost 14 gigs of info and archives collected in my past 25 years in Cyprus … I’m loving the one word search facility, it’s fun, and the site’s growing daily so please save it as a fav 😉

The App
We are at the final stages of launching our new App and although some of our recommendations are closed for the Winter, there’s still loads of things to do to pass away times of leisure and pleasure, so don’t let me hear anyone say there’s nowhere to go or nothing to do …

Open Fires
For starters. why not visit one of our fine harbours, in every major coastal city, with a few boat trips, fishing trips and friendly fish taverns that’ll even cook your catch for you … there’s enough bars open to get sloshed in and even more restaurants providing that home from home feeling around an open fire, a glass of Mulled Wine, maybe a little live music, but remember Cypriots live for the table, so be warned, in the festive season you’ll probably put on a few kilos …

Best in the World
Everyone has finally discovered Cyprus has the best climate in the world, so more and more visitors are coming in the Winter months, including an ever increasing amount of sports teams, making the most of their out of season retreat from the Winter snow.  Makes sense! … So look out for a little more Sports events and friendlies everywhere.

Into Hashing ?
It’s a great time to see Cyprus on foot, so if you are into walking, check out Cyprus Walks Etc. at www.cypruswalksetc.com

Ayia Napa
Worth a visit is the wonderful ongoing Sculpture Exhibition or just get into their Christmas Fairy Tale Stories from 3rd December through 6th January … The awesome Black ‘n’ White Club will keep Napa Urban every weekend and all over Christmas and the New Year … and several bars and clubs are going with live Greek music through the winter season.

Ayia Napa Race
On Sunday 3rd December it’s The International Races of 1km, 5km, 10km … Registration starts at 2 pm from Ayia Napa’s Harbour, for info Tel: 0035799411411

Larnaca
Aka the hub of Cyprus, there’s a delectable promenade, lined with palm trees, it’s a hive of activity day and night and there’s lots to do for kids and grownups.  Perfect shopping in Ermou Street, all the ladies must end up at Brouska, also in Paphos and Nicosia btw … Why not catch a Rock band at Savino Live, a little bit of Jazz at The Blue Pine or pop down to get a selfie with the Flamingos nestled in the Salt Lake for the winter … You must go to the Christmas Bazaar on the front on Sunday 3rd … And you cannot miss out on the magical Traditional Christmas Market, Twinkling Enchanted Forest happening today 1st December and tomorrow 2nd December at 5pm on Forest Beach, Dhekelia Road, just follow the twinkling lights …

Limassol
Is our Capital on the coast, a little more cosmopolitan, boasting a beautiful new marina and lots of old renovated buildings that have become even more styli bars, cosy eateries and a cultural shopper’s paradise and right in the heart of the city, in the Carob Mills and Castle area of old town, it’s a delight by day or night … most of the rockers go to Rock Tepee and the clubbers have several to choose from to keep you happy! Don’t forget the Winter Mystery Festival and Christmas Market between 1st December and 7th January 2018

The Capital
Nicosia, comes into its element in the winter as over 250,000 population stay near home and party like no others … a massive selection bars, pubs, nightclubs, style cafes and eateries of every cuisine imaginable and of course the best Christmas shopping in Cyprus.

Paphos
As always Paphos has a year round lifestyle, there’s almost 100,000 residents and most tour operators guide our few holiday makers and long stay Winter visitors there … Coming to the end of their reign a the Capital of Culture, there’s still one or two events to close the year.  Then there’s the wonderful Paphos Zoo, open all year and there’s live music in several bars including O’Neills and The Railway Inn … if you fancy 4 Wheel Drive adventures check out Jimmy’s Jeep Adventures, loads of fun.  There’s plenty of shopping, from BrouskaBlu up in the Old Town down to Primadonna in The Mall and still a few cool boat cruises sailing daily from the harbour including the magnificent Wave Dancer, so you can’t really go wrong up on the west coast …

Time to Dive
Why not learn to Scuba Dive, as the water temperature rarely drops below 15°C and the dive schools can spend a little more time with you individually, it’s a great opportunity to get your Open Water Course qualification … we have top diving schools in our Adventure Sports section …
