Fat Mama’s Italian American Diner, Kato Paphos

I remember when Fat Mama’s opened, it was exactly what Paphos needed … It became very popular, very quickly, and now it’s, without doubt, one of the finest eateries in Cyprus. It’s an Italian American Restaurant with a Mexican twist, and an absolutely awesome, fun crew, who’ll serve you impeccably with traditional Cypriot hospitality, in a family atmosphere, second to none!

Family Run
It’s been a family-run restaurant for 25 years, and naturally a great place for any age from children to grandparents.  Serving enormous, value for money portions, and the kids have a separate menu that they can colour in and take away, and they’ll even size down the meals for your granny!

Intoxicating
Fat Mama’s is one of those special places that’s so good you’ll just keep going back, so naturally after 25 years it gets really busy every night with bookings not accepted after 7.30 pm, but don’t worry, if you just pop down and have to wait to be seated, you can enjoy a drink from a well-stocked bar.  Mixing one of my favourite Mojitos or try one of their intoxicating cocktails, and at 2 for the price of 1 during happy hours!

Art in the Garden
In the garden Mare who has been with Fat Mama’s 13 years now, offers her amazing talents in Face Painting, Airbrush Tattoos, Henna inspired designs, Glitter Tattoos and Body Art, Balloon Sculpting, Nail Art for Girls and Ladies.  She also does personalised Glass Engraving and painting on the spot and by orders.  Check out her designs here!

Cabaret Show
Famed for their spectacular nightly entertainment, Cathy, who used to dance professionally, and still runs a cheerleader school in the UK, chooses her own professional dancers from the UK, and choreographs an awesome cabaret show.  It’s a spectacular and flamboyant show with gorgeous dancers, with all the sequins and feathers!  It’s even been known for Stavros Flatly and his son pop in for an occasional show, and it’s absolutely brilliant, so it’s a must if you’re in Paphos! oh, don’t forget ‘Woody’ from Toy Story, who’s there to help keep the kids entertained too! … Check out some of their videos here 

Menu
It’s too big to mention everything, starting with the 10 different appetisers; try the freshly homemade soup of the day, the Ravioli Badaboom smothered in tomato sauce.  The magnificent Mussels a’ la Brando in a delicious creamy sauce or my fav the King Prawns De Niro in garlic butter, that’ll tantalise those taste buds.

In the Kitchen
Fat Mama is in the kitchen, she makes a variety of 4 fresh Pastas daily, Italian American style served with 6 different sauces.  You really must try the home-baked Lasagne.  Whilst Cowboy Willy is famous for his BBQ Ribs, Burgers, Enchiladas, and Fajitas served from their Mexican-American selection.

Steaks
Their succulent prime fillet steaks, always cooked to perfection, served with seasonal vegetables and a choice of baked or fried chipped potatoes.  They have 8 options of beef, their speciality being the Steak a la Mamas, served in a delicious garlic and brandy sauce with mushrooms and shrimps! It’s mind-blowing!

Pizza
A choice of 11 Speciality Pizzas, 9’’ or 12’’ inches covered in your favourite toppings.  My fav is the Hoodlums Supreme, with chicken, sweetcorn, green peppers, onion, and sausage.  Alternatively, create your own from a choice of 18 different toppings.

Chicken
If you fancy chicken, you must try the very popular Chicken al’ Rustica, a mouth-watering chicken breast, in a white wine sauce, with fresh broccoli, blue cheese, garlic and sprinkled with spring onion, served on a bed of tasty Tagliatelle with a jacket potato on the side, mmm !!!

Seafood
A variety of Seafood dishes including; King Prawns served with seasonal vegetables and a choice of baked or fried potatoes.  The Grilled Sea Bass Ala Bella, which is served in a delicious ginger, cream, butter, and wine sauce, is just mmm!

Desserts
Whatever you do, save room for one of their delicious home-made cakes and desserts.  My faves; The Godfather of Chocolate Fudge, a tantalisingly tasty hot fudge cake served with cream and chocolate sauce.  The yummy and very popular Mamas Baked Cheesecake is to die for.  Ice cream lovers can enjoy a variety of specials including the classic Banana Split or Chocolate Sundae.  But the Cherry Sensation Pancakes are really adventurous!

Every Night
At about 8 pm, Fat Mama and Cowboy Willy take a break from the kitchen and join the show and they’ve always got time for a few photos for the holiday album.  There’s big screen TV’s showing all the live sports … Oh and this place is really cool coz every night volunteers collect the leftover pasta and meats for the hungry doggies at Stray Haven!

Birthdays and Special Events

This really is an exceptional eaterie, not just the quality of the food, the value for money, the awesome staff, and the entertainment, but the whole ambience is just on another level and a must visit … oh, btw they also provide a Takeaway Service …
