The Heart of Napa
Naturally, if you’re in Ayia Napa, popping into the square in the heart of the city is a must! By day there’s a good chance it’ll be tranquillity to the extreme, and by night there’s every chance that something will be happening! Supplying a traditional welcome for afternoon tea, coffee, ice cream, snacks or just a glass of wine or maybe a G&T, is the massive and world-famous Square Bar & Cafe, on the cobblestones, overlooking the north entrance to the monastery … without a doubt one of my favourite bars in Napa, maybe Cyprus!
Live Music
The Square Bar is better known for their Live Music every night from 8.30 pm ’til late. That’s mostly down to Peter and Rob, of the legendary ‘Live Lounge’, in Cardiff, who told me “We partnered up with Panicos in 2014 to bring you the very best in live bands, duo and solo artists” … Check out their Facebook Reviews, oh and, go early to avoid disappointment, coz this place gets really busy! … I caught the Revolverlites there recently, check them out here.
Mixed to Perfection
I love their Mojitos, mixed to perfection, the Daiquiris just as cool, the Margaritas, omg! so Moorish! Their top sellers have to be the ‘Blueberry Collins’ or their ‘Godfather Part ll’, oh, and the ‘Porn Star Martini’, just to die for, and their ‘Old Fashioned’ quite apt, as this square has been here for hundreds of years.
The Cava
The early evening is pure chill-out, so why not enjoy an excellent selection of wines from Cyprus, Greece, Spain, France and Italy to mention but a few, accompanied with a delicious cheese platter maybe?
Eastern Delights
Naturally, as you’re in the eastern Mediterranean, is there anything better than enjoying some exotic flavours to share with your friends, cooled to your liking and enhanced with a shot, 😉 Mmmm!
Food Menu
I met Panicos when he opened over 30 years ago, and he’s become a really good friend, and it’s still one of my favourite places to sit and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a coffee and a snack. There’s a varied snack menu which includes; Crispy Salads, Garlic Bread, Burgers, BBQ Ribs, Sea Foods mostly from their sister eaterie ‘The Fish House’ by the harbour, Chicken Wings, and Mozzarella Sticks and their specialities include Pizza cooked to perfection, and our absolute favourite; the Shared Platters.
Big Screens Live Sports
This is one of the biggest bars in Napa with two massive projector screens and flat screens everywhere, so it’s a great place to watch all the live sports, and they can show more than one game so sometimes the atmosphere here, is electric! … with table service, and Free Wifi, and lots of fans, of both types 😉
The Meeting Place
I have to just say “this is one of my favourite places to go”. Their demographics make it an excellent meeting place, attracting everyone from 18 to 88, of all nationalities, including locals and residents who love a bit of live music, from top bands from the UK and Europe, every night! The ambience is quite unique in Napa, and with extensive experience in hosting your party or special event or business meeting, they welcome enquiries and provide an excellent catering service!

You’ll find the Square Bar at Ayia Napa’s Main Square, 5330 Ayia Napa, Cyprus … it’s on the entrance to Seferi Square, at the top of Archbishop Makariou lll Avenue, opposite the top entrance to the monastery. It’s the best place to start your night out in Napa, it’s a great place to meet your friends, and catch some excellent live music and tbh, some people never leave … See their Google map below …
