What's On Cyprus

I popped into Bronx in Ayia Napa to find out what everyone is talking about ... There's this new idea 'Alcohol Mist', it's vapourised Alcohol saved into Balloon, so instead of taking in Gas, you take in Vapourised Alcohol, and that gives you a really nice buzz which apparently wears off in about 45 Minutes .... and it's totally legal, and of course, I had to try one 😉 ... I gotta say its well cool!

I asked Solomos for the reason behind their success, and he said "for us everything we do is unique, we give our best to assure each guest leaves here happy", even if all you want is a coffee, afternoon drink, share an exotic flavour, or a little snack, while you watch the match on one of 7 big TV screens.

Taking over the aptly named Din Dins, in June 2018, Glen, Debbie and Sharon had some really cool plans, and it's obvious they got it right, from the start!  Opening this family bar and restaurant, with comfy seating, both outside on the covered decking, edged with potted plants or inside, where you'll immediately notice a really friendly atmosphere, so the idea is, there's no rush if you're eating, and if you're not hungry you can just chill with a drink and soak up the atmosphere, quite unique, and on that note, the impulse banter between this crew in full flow is just awesome ...

As coffee moves to a higher level in Cyprus, Coffee Lab in Paralimni is leading the way ... They specialise in real fresh ground coffee from a single source, by that I mean they know exactly which Coffee Farm it comes from and that includes speciality coffee from Brazil, Ethiopia, Guatemala and Kenya and if you're lucky you'll catch one of their limited editions ... Trust me they guys know their coffee ... More ...

I've known the infamous consultant chef Louis Papageorgiou since he opened Di Capilla Seaside Stories in 2005.  It was my absolute pleasure to interview him, without a doubt one of Cyprus' finest chefs, this guy is seriously on another level.  These days, he's writing a new chapter, purely by accident, in 2010 he met and partnered up with Savvas, a master of hospitality, whom I've known since his Napa days in 1993 ... and together they started a new story ...

Out front a comfortable covered terrace, high tables, and stools, and over on the benches a big cuddly teddy bear with an Amarilino Yellow kit on.  Just inside, more high stools around a high table, visually supported by an old baker's bicycle, and three high chairs looking into the window bar.  Inside its modern, quirky little areas, sofas, Alice in Wonderland style highbacked chairs, and a cool selfie mirror adorned with greenery and flowers and on the back wall, 'Amarilino Makes Me Smile', it made me smile!

By rule of thumb if its quiet in here, it'll be dead everywhere else! ... Gary's Bar & Grill is without doubt one of the best eateries in Napa, recently, yet again, awarded a Certificate of Excellence 2020 by Trip Advisor, it's becoming a habit and tbh, they deserve every accolade they get! ... I've watched this pub grow since it opened in 1988.  It's all dark wood, tables, comfy seats and benches.  The whole place is covered in artefacts, flags, posters, blackboards and hundreds of photos added over the years.  I'm sure I'm in a few, ha!, in fact, I probably took a few of them too.  It's a GastroPub with a cool mix of an international clientele, and of course, the locals in the area, even our nationals who swarm down to the East Coast for a swim on a weekend, and something to eat, and all add to the ever-increasing repeat custom and inevitably, I'd have to say; it's one of the most successful pubs in Cyprus! ... Tbh, the weekends are soooo busy I prefer to go Monday til Thursday, I get more attention 😉

Cape Bar is a family bar with a friendly family atmosphere ...it's situated near Cyclops Caves, on the edge of the National Park at Konnos Bay, Cape Greco.  It's one of my favourite areas in Cyprus, this is a great place to watch the beautiful sunset.
