The Bottle Bank Bar, Kato Paphos, Established 2015

The Oldest Bar
This is, I think, one of the oldest bars in Kato Paphos, it’s been here 30 years, once the O’ Bar, now The Bottle Bank, it was the new name that originally caught my eye, coz it says it all … So, I went straight in and asked if I can open an account.  It’s a family-run pub, so I popped in to have a chat with Chris and Nina, who moved here from South Africa.

Fell in Love
Over a delicious coffee, Chris said, ‘we just came on holiday, decided to move, and pretty much bought the pub straight away”, ha! I’ve heard that story so many times! … but tbh, these guys have just blended in like they’ve been here forever … I expect it’s got something to do with the traditional Cypriot Hospitality with a South African Twist, that oozes from the family and crew.

Traditional
It sits proud on the bend, and the decor is traditional, dark, and light wood everywhere, impressively, Chris even made the new solid wood tables by hand, oh, and he’s happy to make you some to order.  It’s a huge bar, spacious, with a lovely veranda out front.  They’re sport mad in here, so there’s 10 huge TV screens for all the latest live sports, with full English commentary, with a lean to the rugby, of course, but you can pretty much request what sport or game you want to watch, and they’ll usually find it for you!

Music
Regular Live music is on the menu and their music playlist is endless, so it’s like Pandora’s JukeBox here, where you choose the sounds on the screen and set the mood for the night … and if you see Stars in Your Eyes, they’ll set it to Karaoke Mode and you and your mates can sing your hearts out … and special events are always planned for public and bank holidays!

Behind the Bar
The bar is fully stocked with big bottles and a great selection of quality spirits, beers, and ciders and they serve them in many different and unique ways .. so when I asked Chris, why their cocktails are so different, he showed me the huge crystal glasses they make them in and the size of their measures … Nuff said!

Happy Hours
There’s a Darts League and Pool League, of which The Bottle Bank is up there at the top of both, and there’s lots of blackboards with a sense of humor, and when I asked if they have Happy Hour, Chris said ‘‘all you have to do is make me happy” … sounds like a good plan!

New Menu
The kitchen is a bit special here, especially if you like a good Braai aka BBQ, you’ll be in for a nice surprise … If you’re really lucky they might even have one of their now world-famous Souvla on the go.  They’ll even light one just for you if you’re in a big group.  Over the years I’ve tried many dishes here and one of my favourites must be the T-Bone Steak, all 850 gsm of the finest beef around, cooked to perfection.  Chris and the crew are hospitality to the extreme so if you prefer they’ll even just phone something in for you and serve you a delicious coffee to go with it!

Parties
They welcome inquiries for birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, hen, and stag nights and will do everything they can to make your day very special!
