What started as a weekend gig, grew into a week long party, a week long pure rock festival, live bands on a big stage, and often in intimate venues, where you get a chance to grab a drink and socialise with like minded mates you've not seen since the last festival, as well as the band members who hang around the venues, along with the thousands of rock fans that started to follow Cyprus Rocks Festival over ten years ago ...

Many of you probably know, September really is my favourite month! … The long boiling hot, sometimes balmy days and those horrible sticky nights, turn into not-quite-so-hot days, with cool Mediterranean breezes, and much cooler evenings.  The temperatures will stay up in the 30°C’s, in the shade, that’s well over 90°F in English, so don't worry you'll still get a tan.  Much as a cold water shower, still won’t be cold enough, but at least we can start sleeping without the aircon on!

By weekday this place is pure chillout ... but on the weekend it's event time ... and August Bank Holiday Friday Simon Vitulo was setting the tone for the whole weekend ...

I popped into Rodolfos Butchers to buy some lamb chops the other day coz Andreas has his own lamb farm ... and Andreas said "Check out our new fridge" ... He's added a new range of homemade goodies ...

I just love it when I find something by accident, especially when it's this special ... Opposite Liquid Cafe, so I'm normally looking that way, is this fabulous discovery ... It's a cafe snack bar with a unique twist ... there's a few tables on the entrance, two big beer barrels sporting huge white letters, Wine & Beer ... Quite Appt.

Tssssss! Now normally, when it gets this hot we just go for a swim in the sea, but in August even that doesn't work coz the sea is more like a tepid bath.  So, I’ll let you into a little secret, my absolute favourite thing to do in August is to stand under one of our waterfalls in the Troodos mountains, mmm, even in August it’s ice cold!

The story begins as any good story should; 'Once upon a time' there were two mermaids ... the kids all listen with a sense of anticipation ... then there's a fun treasure hunt led by their onboard characters; Pirate Billy Bones and the delightful Tinkerbell to keep the nippers occupied.

I love July, it’s really my favourite month, partly coz it’s my birthday on the 27th and that means I've made it another year and I’ll be throwing a party and of course, it's peak season with temperatures in the shade in the high ’30s and it’s getting hotter by the day … “bring it on”, we say, we love it hot, that's why we live here ... Mmm, Don’t you just love Cyprus?

one of the most popular customs and arguably the most fun is a joyful procession to the sea, where people sprinkle and often throw water over each other, symbolising the purification of the body as well as the soul ... Hmm, I’m taking a bucket with me this year!

I have to say this bar is nothing like its name ... it's spacious, with a cool modern design, comfy seating, with an awesome sound system and cool lighting, and it's one of the few bars playing nice Chill-Out music by day and party sounds by night.  In fact, the nearest it gets to its name is when the Elvis tribute sings the song! ... But tbh, where this place excels is in its choice of nightly entertainment, selecting the best live vocalists and tribute acts on the circuit!
