Enjoy!
Ed’s Note November 2025
It's one of my favourite months, coz the long hot summer is over, or is it? coz it looks like our prediction that 'we’re gonna have another Indian Summer this year', is happening with temperatures expected to hit 25°C this month it looks like we were right again! Following that windy week at the end of October, the air is clearer, so the sun will be stronger, be warned! So, you’ll still be able to wear shorts and a tee-shirt by day, chill out around the pool or pop down to the beach to Top up the Tan for Christmas, did I just say Christmas? omg! …
Top Up the Tan
Topping the tan is easy in December coz Its going to be up there around the 25°C mark and that's in the shade, so it'll be over 30°C in direct sun, so please take care, sit in the shade for a bit and use a good sun protection and after-sun protection is just as important .... Frosty & Latte, Gelato & More, Ayia Napa
... As usual, the first thing I wanted to know was why 'Frosty & Latte'? much as I thought I sort of knew the answer. But to my surprise, 'Adamantri' said, "We must have thought of over 60 names, in the end we named the shop after our two dogs", which conveniently complemented it perfectly. I mentioned I loved the décor, which sort of fuses contemporary minimalism with cosy charm, and she said, "I love to do a little interior design, and for a smallish shop, I think we did really well"
Mr John Tours Cyprus, Protaras
I couldn't resist, so I started with, 'So John, tell me about the old days'... As he replied, his voice became a bit more emotional. "I was born in 1959 in the general hospital, which is now a college, I'll show you on our trip. My family were producers of Strawberries in the neighbouring red soil village of Dherynia. I grew up in the old city of Famagusta, or Varrossia as it was known. I went to school there, I'll show you that too. I knew every road and every corner, every shop and every hotel".
June 2025
I think I've changed my favourite month from May to June, coz it's obviously summer, with scorching temperatures increasing daily up to the mid 30°C in the shade, and that’s about 100°F+ in English, making it a perfect climate to Get a Tan! Another reason I love June is that everything moves outdoors; better still, you can wear shorts and a T-shirt at night. I took the quilt off the bed a couple of weeks ago, and we’re all sleeping under a sheet, but it's time to put the butter back in the fridge, the cold water just isn’t cold enough and the main reason we really know it's summer, is coz the Cypriots are finally swimming in the sea …
A94 Bar & Grill, Ayia Napa
As I walked in for the first time, I was well impressed with the simple blackboards adorning the walls up the stairs leading to the bar on the first floor. Inside, it's all dark wood and industrial style metal ... cool signs everywhere, I couldn't resist getting a couple of shots, how do you like your whiskey? The bar is open on three sides, so lovely cool breezes with really cool views over the heart of Napa, Marios laughed as he said, "it's packed in here for the festive parades"!
Savvas Louka Quad, Bike & Buggy Rentals, Ayia Napa
I recently caught up with Savvas, who, in my book, is one of the old school, around since before Napa became the clubbing capital of Europe. He told me, "I got on my first motorbike when I was 12, and opened this bike rentals in 1992. Over a lovely coffee, Savvas said, "We were renting out mostly those little 50cc bikes. When Cyprus joined Europe in 2004, Quad Bikes and Buggies started flooding the rental market, so I launched, what became an excellent Quad Buggy Safari in 2012 ... These days we have over 150 Quads, Buggies, Scooters and Motor Bikes for rent with really cool prices ...
CannaNapa, Cannabis Store, Ayia Napa
Andreas explained "Cannabidiol has no psychoactive properties in the body, in simple words 'you don't get wrecked'. It helps contribute to the overall well-being of the body and reduces body pains and muscle spasms". It is also an effective anti-inflammatory and helps with diseases such as in my case cancer, but also psoriasis, epilepsy, depression, anxiety, loss of appetite, and many, many more. It also helps reduce stress, stops nausea and vomiting, and is antioxidant and neuroprotective ... It's worth opening your mind to natural remedies and CBD is just amazing!
