Rock Bars & Log Fires
I love this time of the year, walking the dog along stormy coastlines is invigorating, to say the least, and as most bars and restaurants have lovely, homely, warming, open wood fires, log burners or a few of those tall gas heaters, it’s a good excuse to get out. Many have wicked DJ’s mixing to mostly locals, blended with a few tourists and long stayers … others putting on live music every weekend, like O’Neill’s Irish Bar in Paphos and the world-famous Savino Live, in Larnaca, whilst Blue Spice in Pernera and Koursaros Music Bar in Protaras gives us a few gigs and Neverland in Nicosia and Ravens Music Hall keep us rocking in Limassol, our capital on the coast …
Be mine …
Of course, you have to love February, coz on the 14th it’s Valentine’s Day and it always makes me laugh when I watch the postman struggle to get my cards in the letterbox 😉 … Naturally, there’s nothing quite like a little romance, especially on our Goddess Aphrodite’s Island of Love … So guys, pop into one of our recommended Jewellers or Fashion Outlets and Florists to find a special gift, oh, and many of our recommended restaurants and bars are hosting romantic evenings, so why not take your lady out for dinner and pop the question, and ladies if he doesn’t, don’t forget, on the 29th it’s a leap year this year 😉
Is it Spring
Don’t blink or you’ll miss it, that’s the last two weeks of February, they call ‘Spring’, the blossoms are out, floral aromas everywhere and everything is sooooo green … I just love it! … oh and don’t worry, there’s so much to do if you look around, you know, Cyprus is versatility to the extreme, one of the few places you can ski and snowboard up in the Troodos Mountains in the morning and 40 minutes later you can swim in the Med and the spring air is really clear, so in between the occasional winter storms, you’ll still get a fab tan!
It’s a great time to go touring and there’s plenty to see. The Troodos Mountains are in their element at this time of the year and as I write they’re currently covered in snow, so hire a 4 Wheel Drive Car and go touring! Or book a day out with one of our jeep adventure safaris and you’ll get a driver and a host to show you the real Cyprus, try Jimmy’s Jeep Adventures on the west coast and Trackers Safari exploring from the East … oh and one of my favourite finds is Sayious Adventure Park in Asgata just north of Limassol where it’s a stress-free zone so you’re almost guaranteed to increase the adrenaline and get all muddy!
All you shop ’til you drop freaks will be in heaven, coz it’s time for the February Sales, much as many of them started in January this year, so get out and find some bargains, with up to 70% off at some shops. It’s a good time to buy that last winter warmer, still needed at night in February, leading the way in Fashion are Y2K in Ayia Napa, London Clothing Company with shops all over Cyprus and The Melekkis Centre in Paralimni.
Cyprus, for several years officially, boasts the best beaches in Europe, ha! we were saying that years ago!, as one world-renowned Advisor kept forgetting us in their top ten???, in fact we have 25 of the top beaches in Europe, a couple up there with the best in the world, because let’s face it; you really can’t beat our sea! … we also have the best climate in the world and we’re one of the safest places in the world to visit, the safest under a million population and well, they’ve been partying here since the gods invented party some 12,600 years ago, one of the main reasons I live here 😉
Mixing it Up
I’ve noticed even more renovations everywhere, it’s nice to see our businesses putting a bit back into keeping up with fashion … Many hotels receiving government grants to add floors and wings and new hotels and I believe most places are anticipating a record year with a targeted 5 million visitors in 2020 and as tourism seems to be mixing it up these days, continuing with the ever-repeating British majority, closely followed by our Scandinavian visitors, who btw discovered Ayia Napa, and now many others countries including, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, Slovakia, Russia and Greece and not forgetting the rest of the European market, not to mention our Lebanese and Israeli friends slowly but surely all finding out how special this rock really is … it’s starting to feel a bit like the old days …
A few ideas
There are 8 different events planned in February at The Rialto Theatre in Limassol … I’m really looking forward to seeing Cowboys & Aliens from Bruges, Belgium at Savino Live in Larnaca on the 15th … There’s normally a Beach Clean organised by Cyprus Dive Centre down in Kapparis early Feb, and back by popular demand, Kendall Events’ presents a Tribute to the Eagles by Little Eagle for one night only on the Saturday 29th and over in Limassol Blues Cargo in Cyprus for the first time on Saturday 15th February, at Ravens Music Hall in Limassol and on Sunday 16th at Downtown Live, Nicosia
Time to Invest
Cyprus is looking like it’s going to have a fantastic future as we move into the 20’s, so I believe it’s a great time to invest in Cyprus … check out some of our current projects to increase visitors and tourism … maybe invest in a private property to let for extra income, for example at the new Ayia Napa Marina and adjacent Sun City Spa Resort …
It’s almost summer
The season should kick off early with the international tour operators promising to help us go year-round and with Christian Easter falling on 12th April and Orthodox Easter a week later on 19th April, and 8 Public Holidays between now and 1st of May … wow!
