Summer’s Here!
I really love June, mainly because it must be summer now, the days are getting hotter and longer, sunrise is about 5.30 am with temperatures well into the 30’s, better make sure you drink more water, the sea is getting warmer, coz the locals are finally getting in, and it’s not getting dark ’til almost 8.30 pm oh, and the quilts off and we’re sleeping under a sheet, mmm !
World Cup
Much as its June footie fans from all over the world will congregate in all the pubs, bars and cafes for the top games at this year’s World Cup Finals, I can’t wait !!!
Wed in the Med
It’s Wedding season, and we’re still the number one place to get wed in Europe, why ? coz it’s not going to rain ’til at least September, so everyone will be wearing sunglasses in your group photos and of course because Cyprus is the Mythological Party Playground of the Mediterranean, Ho hum ! … Check out Aliathon Gallery in Paphos or Kat’s Arts & Crafts for unusual wedding gifts, and why not Snazz that Glass, an awesome idea, and our Florists, Maria up in Paphos, Arocaria in Napa and Antonio in Paralimni … and if you need a really cool hair stylist give our Hair Angel George a call.
Kids & Grown Ups
In Cyprus we live for our kids and so we’ll be celebrating International Children’s Day at Cyprus Land in Limassol on Friday 1st June.
Healthy Start
As its summer let’s get healthy and help a good cause. On Friday 1st June Theta Healthy Eating Cuisine Restaurant in Limassol is hosting Pawtraits Exhibition supporting Animal Rescue in Cyprus, a well needed initiative!
Versatility
The 100 day club war kicks off any day now with all our clubs open and some massive DJ’s coming to spin their tunes. Pretty much everything is up and running except for a few stragglers, so you’ll have a varied choice of bars, eateries and clubs, after parties, pool parties, boat trips, jeep adventures, day trips, adventure sports, shop ’til you drop trips or if you’re more the lay back and relax type, sun loungers all over the place, mmmm!
Clubbing
Kandi Fest opens on Friday 1st at its new venue at the magnificent Water World Waterpark in Napa, kicking off at 5.30 pm I’ve heard the stage is awesome, see ya down there !
3 Arenas
Sunset Tribes Is the first of many music festivals this year, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June on Governors Beach, at White Rocks, its 3 Arenas, 29 DJ’s and 30KW Sound, with chill out marquees, light shows, projections, dancers and fire shows with guest DJ’s as massive as Sébastien Léger I gotta feeling this is gonna be wicked !!!
Foam Parties
The Official Ayia Napa Foam Party launches on Thursday 7th June at Club Ice in Napa.
Craig David
It’s The BCL Festival starring Craig David at Poseidon Beach in Sotira, Famagusta on Monday 18th June. I caught Craig last year and it was awesome !!!
Sun City
Castle Club’s 5 arena are open and the chillout roof retracted and on Tuesday 26th they are hosting Sun City Ayia Napa Edition, promising to be a sell out night !
Locomondo Live
Back in Cyprus at Makenzie Live on 10th June and at Limassol Beer Festival on 30th June, which btw promises to be the biggest beer festival yet … Info
George Michael
Kendall Events up on the west coast are Bringing back Europe’s No.1 tribute to George Michael. Andrew Browning flies in direct from the UK this month for a mini tour. Andrew was a winning finalist in television’s ‘Stars in their Eyes’ and he’ll be bringing back the magic of George Michael to Cyprus.
Jungle Float
I want to wish a big good luck to the crew at Jungle Float in Protaras and Latchi for their wonderful idea to launch this mobile waterparks in Cyprus. It’s a huge float with trampolines, rope swings and diving platforms and it’s for grown ups too …
Lavender Festival
CyHerbia Botanical Gardens are hosting their annual Lavender Festival on Saturday 9th June in Avgorou promising to be lots of fun for all the family and I hear Cat’s gonna be there painting faces again !
Something to shout about
We’ve been here 25 years, collecting information and passing it on. Many of our recommendations are people that I’ve known for many years. I look for places that get it right, leaders in their field, or they’re passionate about their business or art, be it a tattooist, chef, restaurant owner, or a bar that provides drinks offers, of course all the hospitality industry, or our hair and beauty salons or fitness studios, the occasional new find and naturally I welcome all comments and personal recommendations!

If you’re into Diving go dive the Zenobia Wreck and explore one of the top 5 wreck dives in the world and enjoy the longest diving season in the world !
Iron Man
One last big shout goes out to the Flyboarding Cyprus team who have helped set up several training sites to teach you how to fly like Iron Man and dive like a Dolphin … I’ve done it and all I can say is, just do it !
Relief from the heat
Quick idea if you wanna get out of the sun, I love the new Escape Rooms opening up all over Cyprus. Great idea to pass away an hour or two.
Film Festival
The 13th Cyprus International Film Festival “Golden Aphrodite” is from 23rd June ’til 1st July, in Pafos, the festival celebrates the rising film stars and several artistic events will take place during the week and World Music Day is on Wednesday 21st June with concerts all around Lefkosia, aka Nicosia.

Shop ’til you drop
There’s shopping in abundance and some classy choices for an alternative souvenirs. My fav idea has to be Jewellery or a tattoo. It’s a permanent reminder of your stay on this wonderful rock, we call ‘Paradise’, oh, make sure you’re sober when you get a tatt, and that you choose a tattooist that won’t give you ink if you’re not 😉

Passion
I just have to say, that re-launching What’s On Cyprus has just been awesome. I’m loving getting my finger back on the pulse of Cyprus. It’s been my dream, to incorporate a few of my passions into one, my love of Cyprus, my extreme passion for photography, and my infatuation of creative writing, tbh, I’m loving life at the mo. I suppose it’s partly down to my recently acquired philosophy, whilst I was in Oz, and as the great Jack Nicholson once said “the less I give a fk … the happier I am”!

So all that’s left to say is, if it’s your first time here, why? If you’ve been here before, welcome back! and we all know, you’ll probably keep coming back, until eventually, you’ll end up moving here … either way, you’re all very welcome !
