Summer’s Here
It’s June!, my favourite month, mainly because it’s definitely summer, coz we’re sleeping under a sheet, starkers, we’ve gotta put the butter in the fridge coz its melting and a cold shower isn’t cold enough … I just have to say following that crazy cold spell and rain we had in the beginning of May, it finished off up in the 35°C mark it’s on it’s way to 40°C, “bring it on” I say and remember we’re not gonna see rain again til October … crazy!
Long Days
The days are getting longer and its Summer Solstice on Tuesday 21st June with sunrise about 5.30 am and sunset past 8.30 oh and it must be summer because the sea is now officially warm enough for the locals to get in for a swim and on that note all the best boat trips and watersports are in full swing! oh and, remember “it’s summer, so make sure you drink lots more water! ”
Relaxed
We’ve finally relaxed on all those crazy restrictions especially the one stopping us seeing people smiling, coz that’s what we do in Cyprus all summer … I love to see it because its so infections … A bit like this country … fortunately, most places are open except a few stragglers waiting for it to get busier, much as I’m led believe the whole of Europe can’t wait to pack their bags for the first time in 3 years.
Out & About
June is a great month to get out of town and go for an adventure, coz it’s nice to see the real Cyprus. I highly recommend places like The Camel Park, Pafos Zoo, Ocean Aquarium, maybe an open-air market, a secluded beach, the Troodos mountains with Trackers Excursions, or back to nature with Jimmy’s Jeep Adventures in Paphos, or the Traditional Cyprus Bus in Paralimni and the awesome George’s Fun Bus in Paphos.
Eating Out
I love my job coz I get to try lots of really cool restaurants, cafe’s and bars and most of them I might have been going to for anything up to 30 years … Naturally some are just really cool finds and occasionally off the beaten track … Just choose a city and click on eating out then choose a cuisine the chances are you’ll love my recommendations!
Fancy a Taster?
We recently caught up with a couple of brewers and distillers, namely Aristides Craft Distilling in Tseri, Nicosia making one of the Best Gin’s I’ve ever tasted and the very Local Octo Brewery in the tiny village of Sotira brewing a Grape Ale with Xinesteri Grapes from Cyprus, its like a fine table wine! Both welcoming a free tasting days.
Beach & Pool Parties
We might even see a few Beach Parties and Pool Parties this month with Pambos Napa Rocks Pool Party still leading the way … while up in Limassol, Sunset Tribes still hoping to get a gig or two down at Governors Beach … Naturally, Galu in Larnaca, Guaba Beach Bar, in Limassol, one of Europe’s top clubs is right on the beach and waiting to smash it in their own unique way!
Clubbing
Most of our clubs will be smashing it by mid June when the 100 Day Club War kicks off, normally from 15th June ’til 15th September and Napa, once the Club Capital of Europe, is still hard to beat, with 6 top clubs giving you a broad mix of genres … Follow our facebook page for regular updates.
Drum ‘n’ Bass
Napa’s top club Castle Club is usually in full swing by now, with up to 5 Rooms, giving you a choice of party sounds, R’n’B as much as you like, classic house to hard house and an al’fresco VIP lounge under the stars, with the retractable roof right back at the mo. Oh do look out for the massive ‘Innovation In The Sun’ that will be taking over the Castle Club for their week long summer D&B holiday from 21st to the 27th June 2022.
Napa Nights
Club Ice as always have lots planned with Foam Parties and UV Paint Parties and top DJ’s flying in from everywhere. Black ‘n’ White, will be well into their 38th year, booking some massive names as always and its still the place to be if you like it Urban and of course not to mention Carwash, if you like it cheesy, trust me you’ll leave singing all the way home … unless your off to Club Aqua, the Afterparty!
Live Gigs
Kendall Events boasts Tributes to BoyZone on 10th June at Bonemare Beach Bar … Same place but on the 30th June my good friend Andrea Morelli presents a tribute to Gun n’ Roses … I’ve been in regular contact with the gorgeous Drew at Savino Live in Larnaca who’ll be rocking most weekends and Bank Holidays … oh and the awesome Lithos Rock Band are at Q Bar in Protaras most nights …
Wedding Bells
We’re still the No: 1 place in Europe to get married and why not? coz, it’s probably not going to rain ’til October and that means everyone in the wedding photos will be wearing sunglasses. It seems there’s a backlog to clear so expect to see white ribbon rollers all over the place. Naturally you’ll see a few stag nights and hen parties out and as we’re officially the Mythological Party Playground of the Mediterranean, anything could happen.
Cultural
After Paphos’ up on the West coast boasted the Cultural City of Europe a few years’ back the whole cultural thing seems to be rolling on and spreading throughout Cyprus with many events planned this summer … for more info check out the CTO Events calendar …
