Java Eat Drink Lounge Bar, Pernera, Protaras, Established July 2019

Java Style
When this eaterie opened in 2019 I was more than pleasantly surprised … Java is not a new computer language, but a ‘Diner’ taking hospitality to a new level, and after my first visit I was certain they’d be winning awards!

Survival
Three years later, they somehow survived the pandemic, and it was obvious, just by noticing how popular they’ve become, and maybe being voted the best burger in town has something to do with it … Java is a place to eat, drink, and chill out, and I love their motto; ‘Food & Fuel’!

Brunch
With two top chefs in the kitchen, the first thing I noticed, it was straight into Brunch … which of course means you don’t have to wake up in time for breakfast, and in the last 3 years I’ve tried many dishes that were on my ‘must try list from my first visit when I went for the ‘Green & Sea’, smoked salmon and poached eggs, served with rocket and cherry tomatoes on multigrain bread, just to die for!

So Good
On my second Brunch time visit I chose The Java Fix; Avocado spread onto toasted multigrain bread, grilled bacon, poached eggs, cherry tomatoes, and halloumi drizzled with maple syrup, it was so good I was already planning an evening visit and hadn’t even looked at page 2 yet.Ā  We’ve now eaten here many times and every time was flawless! … just check out their Facebook reviews.

Street & Shared Bites
Their ‘Street Bites’, are unique!Ā  You must try the Fried Halloumi Sticks served with sweet chilli sauce or the Curly Fries with homemade melted Cheddar cheese sauce and jalapenos … or the Grilled Vegetables with Halloumi, on a bed of rucola, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and topped with grilled halloumi, I tried this on a recent visit, absolutely delicious … and if there’s two or more of you, plan to choose and share, that way you can try more of their wonderful menu!

Bao Buns
I had to pop in for a catch-up with Sanya and I was pleased to hear, back by popular demand, are one of my favourite dishes the ‘Bao Buns’ … Choose either slow cooked Pork Belly served with fresh carrot, cucumber, spring onion, sesame and chia seeds and a homemade oriental sauce or the Chicken served with iceberg lettuce and fresh carrot with their secret oriental dressing, both just as good!

Salad Time
Standing out of 4 choices of salad, my favourite was the Java Salad, its a mix of Salmon marinated in citrus juice, with avocado, pickled ginger, garnish, and passion fruit, on a bed of rucola … Next on my to-try list is their Quinoa Salad; Quinea red beans, beetroot, radish, bell peppers, greens, avocado, sunflower seeds, cucumber, served with lemon and virgin olive oil dressing.

Black Angus Burgers
Beef burgers are their speciality, and they claim they serve the best burgers in town, I’d have to say ‘they’re really hard to beat’.Ā  I asked Marinos why they were so good?, he explained; “they are made with 220gr of Irish Black Angus, probably the best cut of beef in the universe, then homemade with a touch of class” and since they opened naturally I’ve had several, OMG!, just a taste bud explosion and, highly recommended … I just love this little video.

The Big 8
There’s 8 Burgers to choose from but my favourite is the ‘Down TownĀ  Burger’, grilled bacon, fried egg, tomato, iceberg lettuce and double cheddar cheese, caramelised onions with truffle mayo, absolutely delicious!

Mains
Headlining; The Java BBQ Ribs served with crispy salad, fresh hand-cut country potatoes and homemade secret BBQ sauce … if you’re hungry try the ‘Jumbo Pork Chop’ all 600gr served with a crispy mixed salad, fresh hand-cut country potatoes topped with homemade horseradish sauce.

Java Meat Platter
On another recent evening visit, Marios persuaded us to go for their Java Meat Platter, it became my absolute favourite, it’s half a rack of BBQ Ribs, one skewer of chicken and one of pork souvlaki, slow-cooked pork belly, tantalising spicy chicken wings, grilled mushrooms and char grilled halloumi, served with tzatziki, pitta bread and hand-cut country potatoes … Mmm!

Veggies
Our veggie friends must try the ‘Grilled Vegetables with Smoked Halloumi’, it’s grilled seasonal vegetables on a bed of ruccola, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and topped with smoked grilled halloumi … and do check out their veggie salads and veggie burgers.

Kids Corner
The kids have their selection, my grandson recently tried the Spaghetti Napolitana served with homemade tomato sauce and loved it but there’s also delicious Margarita Pizza, Chicken Goujons, Pork Souvlaki, oh and Irish Black Angus Classic Burgers, served with country potatoes, oh, sorry ‘No’ Chicken nuggets here coz they serve only fresh food, so there’s nothing for them cooked from the freezer!

Desserts
All the desserts are homemade with passion.Ā  The American Style Cheesecake just delicious … unless you fancy the best Brownies you’ll ever nibble on or The Carrot Cake filled and topped with cream cheese icing which was lovely, so too the Chocolate Fudge Cake, a rich chocolate cake topped with warm chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream … but the first time you go, make sure you choose the homemade ‘Panna Cotta’ flavoured with lemongrass and passion fruit syrup, we shared one and wished I hadn’t’

With weekly special offers on set meals and a cocktail of the day and more, you can’t go wrong!!! … and if you don’t believe me check out their reviews on Trip Advisor

Behind the Bar
The drinks menu is extensive! No local spirits here, they are all quality imported spirits, 16 Gins, 3 of them pink, and they’ll recommend the perfect flavoured tonic … try their classic and signature cocktails, mixed to perfection by the gorgeous bar crew, aka the professors of Gin … but wait ’til you try the ‘Rumberry Delight’ just delicious.Ā  They also, boast the best Strawberry Margaritas in town, mind blowing Mojitos and of course a selection of wines and beers from around the world.

Signature Cocktails
They have 6 to choose from my faves apart from one of the best Passion Fruit Mojito I ever tasted are Java Kiss Kiss; Stoli Vodka, Creme de Cassis liqueur, caramel, and strawberry and lime … The Cuban Passion is a rum drinkers favourite; Rum, vanilla, passion fruit and fresh limes … and the Quennee; Jack Daniels Honey, limoncello liqueur, tea peach, lime juice and gentleman soda … Sooo Moorish!

Gin Lovers
You’re gonna fall in love with Java … 16 different Gins, everything from Gordon’s London Dry to Premium Pink, Bombay, Tanqueray, Portobella Road, Hendricks and one of my faves the Gin Mare with Aegean tonic or the Monkey 47 with pink grapefruit.

Shakes & Smoothies
They also blend an awesome selection of Cold Chocolate, Freshly Squeezed Juices and the best Smoothies I’ve tasted in ages.Ā  The Acapulco is peach, banana and strawberries and a couple of health freak flavours The Veggi is apple, spinach, carrot and ginger … so smooooth!

Just Coffee
This is one of my favourite places to pop in for coffee … The cappuccino delightful, because their speciality coffees are blended Arabic coffee beans exclusively for them.
