But tbh, The Square Bar is better known for their Live Music, every night from 8.30 pm 'til late.  That's mostly down to Peter and Rob, of the legendary 'Live Lounge' in Cardiff fame, who told me "We partnered up with Panicos in 2014 to bring you the very best in live bands, duo and solo artists" ... All Day & Night The bar is open from 9 am to 2 am, so you can pop in for breakfast, brunch, lunch, gorgeous coffees in the afternoon with a naughty slice of cake, maybe a romantic dinner for two, or just evening drinks and a catch up with friends, whichever you choose, this is an awesome place to go.  They provide a great menu from their hearty breakfasts to amazing platters or grilled main meals to delicious homemade desserts.

Chris, with over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry said, "I wanted to open a place that offers low cost, tasty, good quality food, Greek style" … please note; Greek not Cypriot, because this is authentic Greek with a slight lean towards Cypriot and even the Pittas are imported from Greece!  When I asked him why they are so good Chris told me; ''every dish is homemade and we use only the freshest ingredients, cooking to order, which gives our dishes that extra bit of quality!",

I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... An eatery of the highest esteem, I love the crazy paved terrace, shaded by tall mature trees, that twinkle delightfully as the sun sets, the crazy colourful tables and chairs, almost kindergarden'ish, little alcoves of comfy seating, hammocks set up high in the trees, whilst down a tier, skirting the rocks, a pathway leading to the almost private beach on the left, that'll have mellow music and waiter service and there's plenty of sunbeds, all with a view to die for, a sea of serenity at Sirena Bay ...

This is an awesome gastro pub with an excellent reputation and I highly recommend a visit, oh, and mention What's On and you'll be in for a nice surprise !

... so, if the kids are complaining they're bored, get ready to satisfy their thirst for fun!

The setting is as good as on the beach, it's a traditional village house with alcoves and arches edging the shaded patio out front, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean sea.  The ambience is relaxed outside and continues inside, with comfy lounge style sofas and 4 huge TV screens to watch all the live sports, there's a pool room with plenty of seating and two lovely open fires to keep your toes warm in the winter.

Maria specialises in importing foods and more from all over Europe including; the UK, Romania, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia, and Poland, with more than a little bias towards Bulgaria, and even India, in fact, all over Asia.  So, there are great choices in European and Asian style sauces and ingredients and they even sell Basmati rice by the 20 Kg sack for crazy cheap prices.

I met Flouris in his early days at Good Fortune Restaurant in Ayia Napa.  Now in a prime position at the top of the strip in Protaras, son Andreas has joined the family business and together they make an awesome team, bringing you that traditional Cypriot hospitality that made Cyprus famous ... putting first class customer service as their number one priority !
