One of my favourite Take-Away eateries, just a touch above the rest, Wokiwok gives you a fusion of six Asian cuisines, all freshly cooked to order, right in front of you and to perfection in immaculately presented kitchens boasting six authentic Wok Burners from China and a head chef ‘Butti’ from Nepal who’s just soooo passionate about his art … so pop in and grab their Takeaway & Delivery menu next time you’re passing or just check their menu on their web site … btw, there’s a few tables out front to dine-in if you can’t wait to get home!
Desire
I’ve known George for years, Cypriot born, living in London for 7 years, with a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry spanning 30 years, including the famous Psistaria Kapatsos in Limassol and Nicosia. George told me he had the desire to open an Asian Take Away ever since he had his first taste of Indian cuisine in Ayia Napa. Joined amiably by his wife Yiana from Finland, adding the female touch, they achieved their dream in 2015.
Kitchen
George says ”expect to find an awesome selection of spicy food, coz the boss loves it spicy!” … but by ‘spicy’ he doesn’t mean hot hot, he means full of the flavours of the East, some mild, some medium and many that give a kick … Everything is cooked to order, using freshly cut local vegetables and the finest cuts of meat and seafood and imported ingredients from the East … Then three top chefs conjure up an extensive selection of Asian cuisines from, China, Korea, India, Thailand and Japan and of course Japanese style Sushi … Check out my live video here
Sushi Bar
The freshest of fresh, prepared by ‘Ambar’ the Sushi specialist, choose California Rolls, Tempura Rolls, Salmon to die for, Avocado, Spicy Albacore Tuna Rolls, my fav are the Smoked Salmon Rolls … Mix with Maki, like Crab or Tuna or the Wokiwok Kyoto a blend of salmon, prawns, teriyaki sauce, oriental sauce and chili sauce. Top it all off with one or two Nigiri, Salmon, Albacore Tuna, and The Crispy Rolls are my fav, especially the salmon, prawn or the Spider, which is a soft shell crab omg!!! … Here’s a link to their Sushi Menu
Starters
I love the ‘Miso Soup’, its a delicious blend of tofu, miso paste and vegetables, the ‘Spring Rolls’ are so crispy and ‘Prawns Tempura’ absolutely yummy, but the ‘Japanese Dumplings’ are just irresistible and you can try ‘Crispy Aromatic Duck’ with Pancakes and all the trimmings as a starter, so nice, tbh, sometimes I just buy a few starters 😉
Chicken
If you love chicken, there’s too many dishes to mention and too many favourites, I’ve tried everything from ‘Sweet & Sour Chicken’ to ‘Chicken Teriyaki’, a sautéed chicken breast fillet with carrots, onions, green peppers, spring onion, sesame seeds and Teriyaki sauce, it’s a taste bud explosion! and, the ‘Chicken Katsu’, in Japanese curry sauce, omg! and wait ’til you try the ‘Crispy Korean Chicken’, really spectacular and tantalisingly spicy!
Pork or Beef
It’s hard to resist the ‘Spicy Szechuan Pork’ or the ‘Pork in Sweet Chilli Sauce’ but the ‘Beef Teriyaki’ or the ‘Beef in Black Bean Sauce’ are delicious … my fav has to be the unique ‘Crispy Beef’ with oyster and steak sauce’, sprinkled in sesame seeds, it’s just amazing!!!
Seafood
Now, I love my seafood, so if you do too, you’re in for a lovely surprise, the steam-cooked ‘Salmon Teriyaki’ is delightful! The ‘Sweet & Sour Tempura Prawns’ a taste bud confusion 😉 but my absolute fav is the Seafood Curry, OMG!!! like, prawns, calamari, mussels, carrots, onions, red and green peppers, garlic and coconut milk, and you can order it either served as red, green or yellow curry, Hmm, which one?
Thai
Now I have to say I’m a sucker for their ‘Thai Green Curry’ or their ‘Spicy Thai Red Curry’, so that’s normally what I end up having … but tbh, the portions are very generous, so I often mix and match and share with a few friends at home … that way you get to try all the different cuisines, often mixing together, two or three different flavours from around the world.
Vegetarian
There’s plenty of vegetarian selections because if you want you can just ask them to cook the dish you fancy without the meat, you’ll be very pleasantly surprised! however … The Exotic Tofu Salad or the Vegetable Spring Rolls are delicious, so too the Rice Noodles with Tofu, highly recommended and my fav the Mixed Seafood Noodles or the Vegetable Dumplings with Sweet Potatoes, Moorish is an understatement!
Fasting Dishes, aka Nistisima
With traditional Cypriot roots, George and Yiana make sure they have almost twenty selections to help you find a variety of fasting takeaway to keep you happy ’til it’s time for Lamb again, mmm! and they are happy to explain what’s on the fasting menu that day, so give them a call and at the same time let them know if you have any preferences or changes to your selected dish, they’ll be happy to oblige.
Rice & Noodle Mixes
Naturally you’ll need an accompaniment or two, highly recommended, the ‘Yaki Soba Noodles’, mine’s with beef fillet please, medium rare! The ‘Pad Thai Noodles with Shrimp, are a tad hot, but I love them and of course the ‘Mixed Seafood Yellow Noodles’ … oh and, there’s 5 Wokiwok Special Fried Rice to compliment your selection! …
Take Away & Delivery
It’s a takeaway, but there’s a few tables here, or you can call they’ll deliver for a small fee, anywhere in Paralimni, Dherynia, Kapparis, Pernera, Sotira Centre and they’ll even meet you at the first petrol station in Frenaros, and they also have soft drinks, beers and delicious wines, coz they always aim to please and that’s what I call ‘top service from top guys’! … Check out their reviews on FaceBook & TripAdvisor oh and I’m loving the new Vespa … We are, we are the mods!
