The Grand Slam is a family run British style boozer, it's even on the corner, on the sunny side of the road, and once known as The Corner Pin, inside it looks busy, with quirky little designs mostly mums doing, I just love the Table Tops they're well cool ... There's music memorabilia all over the place with a professional light and sound system, a well stocked bar, with a lovely front terrace onto Kapparis Avenue ... it's a great stop off for an afternoon drink, good pub grub, and there's something happening here almost every night!
The bar is open from 9 am to 2 am, so you can pop in for breakfast, brunch, lunch, gorgeous coffees in the afternoon with a naughty slice of cake, maybe a romantic dinner for two, or just evening drinks and a catch up with friends, whichever you choose, this is an awesome place to go. They provide a great menu from their hearty breakfasts to amazing platters or grilled main meals to amazing homemade desserts.
My initial interest was to find out about their gins, Aris explained, "it's what originally brought us back to Cyprus, 'to create a quality craft gin'. Our initial inspiration was the aroma of The Troodos Mountains after a long dry summer when it first rains and we wanted to capture exactly that and put it in a bottle and we called it Aoratas Dry Gin which in fact last year won a gold medal.
By night it's best described as a Pre-Club Party Bar, a wicked sound system, lights and smoke n all so be warned you might not make it to the club coz this lot party every night ... Resident and Guest DJ's through the season, the music, playing a cool mix of House, R'n'B, and Classic Party tunes and MC's that'll get you up on your feet and you'll be dancing on the podiums and well, anywhere you wanna ...
This is an awesome gastro pub with an excellent reputation and I highly recommend a visit, oh, and mention What's On and you'll be in for a nice surprise !
... Let's say Dr. Feelgoods Beach Bar Ethics were spot on and Zilly smashed it, everybody loved him and I've just had good news that he'll be there every Saturday afternoon through the Summer ...
As soon as you see this place, you'll know it oozes quality ... but tbh, it's much, much, more than it first seems ... Effectively, it's a mini resort, with a spacious area boasting a large swimming pool and cafe-style pool bar, surrounded by mature trees, delicious green lawn, palm sun shades, canvas sails and a lovely relaxed ambiance in a truly wonderful setting with free sunbeds and free WIFI ... and they're open all year except maybe January ...
The setting is as good as on the beach, it's a traditional village house with alcoves and arches edging the shaded patio out front, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean sea. The ambience is relaxed outside and continues inside, with comfy lounge style sofas and 4 huge TV screens to watch all the live sports, there's a pool room with plenty of seating and two lovely open fires to keep your toes warm in the winter.
Spacious and with plenty of really comfy seating, and unusual on the strip, here you'll find table service by the gorgeous crew! and btw, there's something happening here every night. Check out the wicked Saxophonist, he's awesome ! The Fire Show with fire dancers will warm things up a little, plus LED Shows, Lazer Shows, occasional Live Bands but always World Famous DJ's and PA's including Italian born, Resident DJ Gabri Prico.
I was delighted to be invited to 'Play 4 All' to catch up with owner Lucas Polycarpou and I have to say, I had no idea just how much they do here, with 6 Full Size Bowling Alleys, a Children's Play Room, called 'The Jungle' and a fully fitted club style party room called 'La Mour' for up to 150 of your friends. There's also a restaurant with a top chef presenting a full a' la carte menu and that's just for starters, excuse the pun … oh and, a few big screen TV's so you can just pop in for a drink to watch all the live sports and the footie! … So it really is a fun place for kids, and grown ups!
