I've known the infamous consultant chef Louis Papageorgiou since he opened Di Capilla Seaside Stories in 2005.  It was my absolute pleasure to interview him, without a doubt one of Cyprus' finest chefs, this guy is seriously on another level.  These days, he's writing a new chapter, purely by accident, in 2010 he met and partnered up with Savvas, a master of hospitality, whom I've known since his Napa days in 1993 ... and together they started a new story ...

I said 'I like the idea' and he responded with a smile, "Saves driving to Larnaca!" ... I asked how can you keep everything so low cost, and he responded, "Well, we buy lots of stock for our shop in Greece, and now for here" ... so with literally thousands of different items in store, for your home, garden and leisure time, here's a quick peek ...

So I caught up with the fabulous Kay for a chat ... She told me, "This year's location has been kept secret and it's just been announced and it's at Paraklisha, in Limassol ... It's getting bigger every year, so far we have over 1,500 participants registered, who can all expect an unforgettable mix of adrenaline, teamwork and fun ... and for the first time there's a Kids Challenge too

... As usual, the first thing I wanted to know was why 'Frosty & Latte'? much as I thought I sort of knew the answer.  But to my surprise, 'Adamantri' said, "We must have thought of over 60 names, in the end we named the shop after our two dogs", which conveniently complemented it perfectly.  I mentioned I loved the décor, which sort of fuses contemporary minimalism with cosy charm, and she said, "I love to do a little interior design, and for a smallish shop, I think we did really well"

I couldn't resist, so I started with, 'So John, tell me about the old days'... As he replied, his voice became a bit more emotional. "I was born in 1959 in the general hospital, which is now a college, I'll show you on our trip.  My family were producers of Strawberries in the neighbouring red soil village of Dherynia.  I grew up in the old city of Famagusta, or Varrossia as it was known.  I went to school there, I'll show you that too.  I knew every road and every corner, every shop and every hotel".

What makes Begafigo so special is its ideal location.  Ayia Triada, aka Trinity Beach, offers fine golden white sand, clear shallow waters, often as calm as a millpond, next to a scenic fishing harbour and the iconic, tiny, blue‑and‑white church, and as luck would have it, the launch of Tulum Beach Bar right next door was a blessing in disguise!

I love it when I find 'something out of the ordinary', slightly off the beaten track, owned by a guy who just wants to do what he loves with a passion.  Savvinos is dedicated about absolutely anything to do with Skatsa and 'Skateboarding'in Larnaca.  I've known him from the old indoor skate park days.
