Classy & Extra Trimmings
Finding this excellent eaterie when they first opened was easy from the outside, I just love the facade, and the interior decor is sort of warehouse-like, classy with industrial tones and extra trimmings, pallets hanging from the ceiling, guitars on the walls, cool lighting and an awesome looking bar with more bottles than you can count … plus really good food, and 11 years later their massive repeat custom says it all, and I can’t recommend The Malthouse highly enough!
Casual Dining
Launched by the owners and brothers, maitre’d Giorge Kolokoudias and head chef Theo because of their passion for good food and high-quality beers. They wanted to give you what’s already there but in their own different way … so, Malthouse leans towards an American-style diner, bringing the word ‘casual’ to eating out in Protaras. I had a chat with Theo’s partner, the gorgeous Sophia who pretty much runs the show, and she brought me up to date with what’s on this year at The Malthouse …
Quality
They promise that quality comes first, searching for quality ingredients, that Theo experiments with, often up to 3 months, until they find the best they can offer starting with their Cyprus Potatoes that come straight from Theo’s Papoo’s Farm, and as for their Burgers, no frozen stuff here!, they’re all handmade, fresh every day, using the best cuts of beef and pork from local butchers mixed with herbs and spices, to Malthouse Burger perfection!
On the Menu
Everyone’s fav is the BBQ Burger and the top-selling Giant Burger served with a creamy cheese sauce, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes. My fav has to be the BBQ Ribs, they’re so popular they sell out every night. Marinated, oven cooked for hours, marinated again, and served with their secret homemade BBQ Sauce … mmmm! it’s just a taste bud explosion!
Gluten-Free & Vegan
Theo was telling me; Our menu also includes Gluten Free and Vegan selections, the ‘Beyond Meat Burger’ is the first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and satisfies like beef without gluten, soy, or GMOs, served on a vegan brioche, with vegan Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, gherkins, onion, and vegan pink sauce” … I’m sure it’s going to be a big hit in Protaras … Here’s a link to their Menus
Behind the Bar
Expect a bit more than the norm; you’ll find just over 100 specialty, craft beers, and rare beers, a few from a local Microbrewery, and some specifically selected from all over the world including; Real Ales and Ciders … with 13 Beers on Draught; including San Miguel, Staroprramen, Kozel Dark from the Czech Republic, and Hobgoblin to mention but a few, so if you like beer you’ll be in heaven … I’ve tried the Brewdog, well cool, and The Elvis Juice IPA, unusual, I have to say it was different and absolutely delicious! … Go on ask them for their ‘Beer of the Week’ and be enlightened!
It’s an Art
And if you don’t like beer, you’ll be in paradise, because they’ll mix your cocktail with extra special attention to detail … in fact, Theo say’s “To them, it’s an art!” … and tbh when you taste them you’ll understand why !!!
Mixing it up
I love the Mojitos, first class, and my fav, their own unique mix of ‘Pain Killer’ a blend of 4 different Rums, or the Zombie, be warned both have a strong kick … now their idea on the Porn Star is a cool blend of Prosecco and Passion fruit, shaken not stirred? … oh and, just wait ’til you try their Margaritas 😉 Mmmm!
Live, Music & Sports
In here, you’ll find a bit of classic rock, alternative rock, and pop rock, mixed with some upbeat summertime throws, and often twisted into a Rock ‘& Roll atmosphere! .. Playing all the greatest hits from the 80’s ’til today’s, syncing up with the videos on the big screen TV’s, and regular live music every Thursday and occasional Fridays and Sunday’s, with spices of rock naturally, oh and as they have big TV’s, they’ll never miss the footie and all the live sports … Here’s a link to some Videos
