What's On Cyprus

I've had the pleasure to work closely with this impeccable hotel since 1993.  To be honest if you ever stay here, there's a very good chance you'll go back!  I think its because it's still a family run hotel, with many of their staff staying long enough to be family and its without a doubt regarded as one of Cyprus's finest hotels.  In fact, they were recently awarded a Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice Award for 2021 to add to an ever increasing impressive list of awards over the years.

All Day & Night The bar is open from 9 am to 2 am, so you can pop in for breakfast, brunch, lunch, gorgeous coffees in the afternoon with a naughty slice of cake, maybe a romantic dinner for two, or just evening drinks and a catch up with friends, whichever you choose, this is an awesome place to go.  They provide a great menu from their hearty breakfasts to amazing platters or grilled main meals to delicious homemade desserts.

I met with Alexandra in Cafe Central, and over a delicious cappuccino I asked her to tell me more, starting with why my cappuccino was so good?  She smiled and said, "We selected Robusta coffee beans, from southern and central Africa, because it's an international multi-award winning coffee, with a woody, spicy, slightly bitter taste, that we preferred over Arabica" ... oh and just wait til you see the menu ...

The first impressions were the different design, open-fronted, industrial with minimalist tones, steel pillars, raw concrete and polished wood, high ceilings, really cool lighting, comfy seating, designer signs and the menu, 'different' to say the least but let's just say it's more of a diner than a cafe and highly recommended ...

It's on the corner of the entrance to Bar street, and btw, it's one of the oldest bars in Napa!  Hosts Andreas and Karina, are completely 'down to earth' and absolutely love their pub and have continued it's 30 year tradition by being one of the only bars that stay open all year.  Joining the crew recently Kevin of Three Lions Pub fame is bringing the pub grub menu to another level.  Naturally it's a favourite with locals and long stay workers and of course they look after everyone that wants to join them, tbh, it's one big happy family here, and quite unique!

Evi continued; "It all started back in 1912, when Wilbur Scoville charted the comparative heat of different chillis.  The greater the number of Scouville units the hotter the chilli, but don't worry, we have 8 Different Flavours of Piri Piri sauces, from Zesty Lemon and Herb to Extreme with everything in between!"  Piri Piri of course means Pepper Pepper, my favourites are the Hot & Spicy and the Jerk Chicken, OMG!

... But tbh, The Square Bar is better known for their Live Music, every night from 8.30 pm 'til late.  That's mostly down to Peter and Rob, of the legendary 'Live Lounge' in Cardiff fame, who told me "We partnered up with Panicos in 2014 to bring you the very best in live bands, duo and solo artists" ... ... it's an absolutely wonderful find, just off Kapparis Avenue, just over 200 metres to the beach, in one of my favourite areas in Cyprus, with a massive veranda, so you can relax overlooking the sea that’s about 200 metres away ...

It's where Tranquillity & Energy Unite, Tulum Beach Bar effortlessly bridges the gap between relaxation and excitement.  As the weekdays roll in, the atmosphere transforms into a sanctuary of calm.  Whitewashed wooden furniture and flowing curtains create an ambiance that beckons you to escape the chaos of daily life.  But hold on, for when the weekend sun rises, Tulum flips its script.  Enter a world where the best local DJs spin Techno melodies that resonate through the air.  The contrast is nothing short of astonishing.

I love the tall beer barrel tables and stools, and inside, its all wood, a cozy atmosphere, it's intimate, cool chandeliers, music posters, comfy seating and rock stuff all over the place ... excellent service, oh and a really cool ambiance that's created by lots of like-minded, live music, rock, blues and occasionally jazz freaks, of all ages and nationalities ...
