Hive of Activity
Just off the roundabout at Ayia Triada, two minutes walk from Trinity Beach, with gorgeous sweeping views of the sea, is this wonderful traditional British Pub with a truly international clientele, that’s a hive of activity day and night … Barbara and Simon, aka Simon the Pie Man for obvious reasons, come from the Green Isle and good old Irish hospitality came with them, in abundance !!!
Inside or Out
There’s a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside, with a lovely shaded beer garden outside, and a sun catching terrace out front, with sweeping views down to the sea and a cool Pool Table, and free WiFi and a lovely log burner to keep you warm on those chilly seaside winter nights! oh not forgetting the function suite next door too if you wanna hold a party or special event.
Pub Grub at its Best
It’s a family run pub with son ‘Greg’ and daughter-in-law ‘Adele’ behind the bar, Simon in the kitchen and Barbara, hmm, everywhere … it’s famed for its ‘Real Pub Grub’ at reasonable prices and the menu is extensive, one of my fav’s the Cod & Chips, just delicious ! … oh and btw, they have introduced lots of Non-Alcoholic Drinks to their menu!
Specialities
Their speciality is Simon’s Pies, and as a Master Baker for over 40 years they are ‘just to die for’ … with too many to choose from, Steak ’n Kidney, Steak ’n Ale, Steak ’n Halloumi or my fav the Tandoori Chicken and for the vegetarian’s choice, Three Cheeses, or you must try one of Simon’s Indian Dishes, OMG! … and its all available for Take Away
Home Cooked
If you’d like to order one or more of Simon’s pies for your party at home it’s best to order them a couple of days before …
Sunday Roast
I just have to mention their fantastic Sunday Lunch, with a choice of three meats, served with all the trimmings … let’s just say it’s hmm, very homely!, btw, booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment, especially for Sunday Lunch … then in the week …
Monday’s.
In the winter from 7.00 pm they have two Pool Teams playing in the local Pool League, usually one home and one away …
Tuesday’s
It’s Babs’ day off, all day, so nothing much happens! 😉
Wednesday’s
Babs’ is recovering from her day off, so something might happen!
Thursday’s
10 am you have the very popular ECL, Eastern Cyprus Ladies Coffee Morning, a chance to get together with the girls for a cuppa and a good natter!
Friday’s
TGI Friday … It’s the start of the weekend so anything can happen … but that’s normally after they’ve finished serving Fish & Chips …
Occasionally
It’s a family affair, so they often get together to remember someone lost, and if you want to send a message, they all set off hot air balloons together. It’s emotional, but this is where the Irish come into their element, go see what I mean, and be part of the Bakers Arms family!
On the Big Screens
They love their sports here, so any football night especially on the weekends, on 7 big screens, you’ll get all the Live Sports including, Premiere League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Internationals with a lean towards Ireland of course, plus Champions League, Europa League, and F1, Tennis, Athletics, and Boxing … oh and, Babs loves her Golf! but hey if you’re really bored?, or should I say ‘curious’, why not ask her to take you for a game of ‘Around the Triangle’? on the pool table …
Officially Rangers
Much as this lot support Man City, arguably the best team in the world, The Bakers Arms also boasts the first and only Official Rangers Supporters Club in Cyprus, with the Chelsea Rangers Connection in force for every match! Cumon the Blues!
Bakers Arms Golf Society
The local golf fanatics regularly meet here and they always welcome new members, with favourable prices when you get a round in, oh, and for the golf 😉
Remembrance Day
Every November on the remembrance Sunday, Babs and the crew host an annual Remembrance Day, it’s the only one of its type in the area and this year it was conducted by Greg West and they were graced by the attendance of the Official Flag Bearer from Dhekelia Bases, and even members of the local bikers club ‘Primates’ … btw, the event is growing every year so make sure to pop down!
Christmas & New Year
Well, the Irish love any reason to have a good party, so expect some crazy parties and the occasional Christmas Mini Market, and whatever you do don’t miss the Christmas Carol sing-song night, it’s absolutely awesome! Just wait ’til you hear their rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas lmao! Oh, and booking is essential for Christmas Day.
Cyprus Rocks Festival
Babs and the crew welcome all rockers for the 6th Cyprus Rocks Festival from 3rd to 8th of October, and a few days either side. It’s so convenient as the pub overlooks Trinity Beach, just a short walk to or from the main stage, so it’s a great meeting place before and after the nightly events! … They’ll have some awesome sounds on during the day and I’m hearing rumours they got a few surprises this year, as always 😉
Function Room
They welcome inquiries for parties and charity events with a separate function room, a huge off-street car park, and the best buffets you’ll ever taste, and of course, traditional Irish hospitality.
Finally
I just wanna give a big shout-out to Greg for throwing himself out of a plane recently in aid of charity … When I asked him why?, he said; “I had some unfinished business!” … ask him to tell you why!
