Summer’s Here!
I think I’ve changed my favourite month from May to June, coz it’s obviously summer, with scorching temperatures increasing daily up to the mid 30°C in the shade, and that’s about 100°F+ in English, making it a perfect climate to Get a Tan!  Another reason I love June is that everything moves outdoors; better still, you can wear shorts and a T-shirt at night.  I took the quilt off the bed a couple of weeks ago, and we’re all sleeping under a sheet, but it’s time to put the butter back in the fridge, the cold water just isn’t cold enough and the main reason we really know it’s summer, is coz the Cypriots are finally swimming in the sea …

On the Beach
Cyprus boasts a few of the top 25 Beaches in Europe, and in June, they come alive with locals and tourists seeking the sun, the sea and of course, a little sex on the beach, settle down, I mean the cocktail.  So, from the lively shores of Ayia Napa and picturesque sands of Protaras in the east to the tranquil beauty of Polis and Latchi in the west, there is a beach for every taste.  Whether you prefer relaxing on a secluded cove or engaging in adrenaline-pumping water activities, one of the many summer beach parties, more than a few weddings with your toes in the sand, June provides an ideal backdrop for coastal adventures.

Shades of Blue
It’s extremely unlikely that it’ll rain in June, but the evenings might get a bit balmy, and the days are getting longer, with our summer solstice falling on Saturday, 21st June at 5.41 am.  The skies are a variety of shades of cyan blue every day, and the Mediterranean Sea reflects many tones of azure.  There’s a plethora of things to do, including enjoying an array of boat trips and water sports along the stunning coastline, making Cyprus an unforgettable summer retreat in paradise.

Festival of The Flood
Beyond its captivating beaches, Cyprus offers a rich cultural history, going back some 12,600 years.  June also presents an opportunity to immerse yourself in local traditions and festivities.  One such celebration is ‘Kataklysmos’ aka Festival of the Flood, a commemoration of Noah’s Ark, which takes place around the time of the Orthodox Pentecost, this year falling on the weekend of Friday 6th to Monday 9th June, with water fights all part of the festivities.  This vibrant festival also features boat races, traditional music and dance performances, and an array of local delicacies.  It is a fantastic occasion to experience the island’s cultural heritage and revel in the warm hospitality of the Cypriot people.

Beach & Pool Parties
It’s summer, so expect to find a few Beach Parties and Pool Parties along the coast … With Pambos Pool Parties still leading the way every Thursday in Ayia Napa … Let’s not forget last year’s Sunset Sessions Pool Party, and of course, Nissi Bay’s Crazy Foam Party.  While in Larnaca, you must check out what’s on at Rise Street Art Hotel’s Rooftop Bar and in Limassol, there’s a huge event on Saturday 7th June at Guaba Beach Bar, one of Europe’s top clubs is right on the beach and waiting to smash it in their own, unique way! And one of my favourite beach bars, Wanax Beach Bar, comes into its element.  While up in Paphos, I hear Vardas Beach is the place to dance with the sand between your toes.

Clubbing
Most of our clubing moves to Napa, and they’ll all be smashing it by mid-June, when what’s known as the 100-Day Club War kicks off, normally from 15th June ’til 15th September and Napa, once the Club Capital of Europe, is still hard to beat, with 6 top clubs giving you a broad mix of genres … Follow our Facebook page for regular updates.

Napa Nights
Staying in Napa for the mo, Club Ice as always has lots planned, with Foam Parties and UV Paint Parties, and top DJ’s flying in from all over the place.  Club Black ‘n’ White, will be well into their 5th decade, booking some massive names as always and it’s still the place to be if you like it Urban and of course let’s not forget Carwash Disco, if you like it cheesy, trust me you’ll leave singing all the way home … unless you’re off to Club Aqua, the original Afterparty!

Live Gigs
Kendall Events presents  ‘Ultimate Coldplay’, a tribute to the fabulous Coldplay at 5 venues nationwide from the 26th June to 1st July.  I’ve been in regular contact with the gorgeous Drew at Savino Live in Larnaca who’ll be rocking most weekends and Bank Holidays … oh and, the awesome Lithos Rock Band are at their own bar in Pernera these days and why not, you’ll leave singing … Joker Square, Ghetto Cocktail Bar, and Tee Jay’s Pub in Protaras boast live entertainment most nights … And don’t forget the amazing Stardust Comedy Variety Show in Vrissolles, probably the best stage show I’ve ever seen I my 32 years here …

Exploring
June also provides an excellent climate for touring and exploring Cyprus’s historical and archaeological treasures.  The ancient city of Paphos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, beckons visitors with its remarkable ruins, including the famous House of Dionysus and the Tombs of the Kings.  Strolling through these ancient marvels under the pleasant June sun adds an extra layer of enchantment to the experience.  Limassol boasts a 10th Century BC adventure at the Amathus Ruins … just wonderful to experience the Arora … oh, and a visit to The Sculpture Park in Ayia Napa is absolutely fabulous …

Relief from the Heat
Discover the island’s natural beauty by exploring the stunning Troodos Mountains.  In June, the mountains come into their element with lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers, offering a refreshing relief from the heat of the beaches.  Wonderful hiking trails wind through the pine-scented forests, revealing breathtaking vistas and Hidden Waterfalls.  The pleasant temperatures make June an excellent time to discover the awe-inspiring natural wonders of Cyprus, quite possibly the highest point of the mountainous region of The Lost City of Atlantis

Fancy a Taster
A few years ago, we caught up with a couple of brewers and distillers, namely Aristides Craft Distilling in Tseri, Nicosia, distilling one of the best gins I’ve ever tasted and the very
Local Octo Brewery in the tiny village of Sotira, brewing a Grape Ale with Xinesteri
Grapes from Cyprus, that’s comparable to a fine table wine!  Both welcome free tasting days.

Drink More
Oh, and if I can give you just one tip this month; ‘Remember it’s really summer, it’s really hot, you’re gonna perspire, and inevitably dehydrate, so make sure you drink lots More Water! and I mean at least 2 to 3 litres a day, and moreso, make sure the kids drink loads too!

Eating Out
Cypriots live for the table, so you can’t go far wrong.  I’ve been eating out here for 37 years, and I highly recommend several of my tried and tested favourites here.  June is a fantastic month to savor Cyprus’ renowned cuisine, with Gastronomic Delights, exaggerated by an abundance of fresh produce coming into season, including succulent fruits and vegetables, especially the seedless watermelons, as well as freshly caught seafood, and of course, as everything moves outdoors or inside in air-conditioned comfort … Just choose a city, then go Eating Out … Then choose a cuisine … Kali Orexi!

International
We have 16 different cuisines in 8 major cities and a few out-of-town restaurants for you, all one-word searchable.  Be sure to try traditional dishes like charcoal grilled souvlaki, mousaka, Kleftico, halloumi cheese, and loukoumades, honey-soaked doughnuts, to truly savour the local gastronomy.  If you’re not sure what you’re eating, click here What Am I Eating

Wedding Bells
We’re still the No: 1 place in Europe to get married, and why not? coz, it’s probably not
going to rain ’til October and that means everyone in the wedding photos will be wearing
sunglasses.  It seems there’s a backlog to clear, so expect to see white ribbon rollers all
over the place.  Naturally, you’ll see a few stag nights and hen parties out and as we’re
officially the Mythological Party Playground of the Mediterranean, anything could
happen … btw, if you just go top right and search weddings, you’ll find everything that’ll make your day very special …

Second Home
To many people, Cyprus is their second home, whether they come occasionally or twice a year … for some it’s their first time and don’t we all love Cyprus virgins … and if you all make it, don’t panic, I’m sure it’s gonna be busy and business as usual!  On that note, we have some really cool Hotels & Villas for you to check out

Please Sir
Can I have some More … Our responsive, dynamic website now has over 1,800 pages and over 30,000 photos and videos, all one-word searchable, oh, and don’t forget to follow us on our Facebook page, unless of course, you prefer, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest and last but not least please subscribe to our YouTube channel … See one touch links below …

Finally
If it’s your first time here, all I can ask is, why? … If you’ve been here before, welcome
back and we all know that you’ll probably keep coming back, time and time again, and eventually, like us, you’ll probably end up moving here!  anyway, you are all very welcome to what I believe is really paradise!

Really Finally
Step up the UV factor, drink loads of water and this month, make sure you do
something you’ve never done before!
