I love a game of cards, and Poker is one of my favourites.  So, I was really happy to catch up with Asteros, the manager, at the Cyprus Poker Federation, Ayia Napa for a coffee and a chat.  Asterios said, "The Cyprus Poker Federation was originally established back in 2019 to help advance Poker in Cyprus, and is dedicated to promoting the game and supporting the local poker community" ... Andrew Rafferty with Two Sides of Phil Collins, one of the world's best tributes to the legend himself ... This guy looks like Phil, dresses identical and sounds just like him ... and as we hadn't seen rain since May this cover of 'I wish It Would Rain' was quite apt!

Their speciality is Simon’s Pies, and as a Master Baker for over 40 years they are 'just to die for’ … with too many to choose from, Steak ’n Kidney, Steak ’n Ale, Steak ’n Halloumi or my fav the Tandoori Chicken and for the vegetarian’s choice, Three Cheeses, or you must try one of Simon's Indian Dishes, OMG! ... and its all available for Take Away

What started as a weekend gig, grew into a week long party, a week long pure rock festival, live bands on a big stage, and often in intimate venues, where you get a chance to grab a drink and socialise with like minded mates you've not seen since the last festival, as well as the band members who hang around the venues, along with the thousands of rock fans that started to follow Cyprus Rocks Festival over ten years ago ...

By weekday this place is pure chillout ... but on the weekend it's event time ... and August Bank Holiday Friday Simon Vitulo was setting the tone for the whole weekend ...

one of the most popular customs and arguably the most fun is a joyful procession to the sea, where people sprinkle and often throw water over each other, symbolising the purification of the body as well as the soul ... Hmm, I’m taking a bucket with me this year!

I have to say this bar is nothing like its name ... it's spacious, with a cool modern design, comfy seating, with an awesome sound system and cool lighting, and it's one of the few bars playing nice Chill-Out music by day and party sounds by night.  In fact, the nearest it gets to its name is when the Elvis tribute sings the song! ... But tbh, where this place excels is in its choice of nightly entertainment, selecting the best live vocalists and tribute acts on the circuit!

I met with Alexandra in Cafe Central, and over a delicious cappuccino I asked her to tell me more, starting with why my cappuccino was so good?  She smiled and said, "We selected Robusta coffee beans, from southern and central Africa, because it's an international multi-award winning coffee, with a woody, spicy, slightly bitter taste, that we preferred over Arabica" ... oh and just wait til you see the menu ...
